The X-ray emission mechanism of large scale powerful quasar jets: Fermi rules out IC/CMB for 3C 273.
The process responsible for the Chandra-detected X-ray emission from the large-scale jets of powerful quasars is not clear yet. The two main models are inverse Compton scattering off the cosmic microwave background photons (IC/CMB) and synchrotron ...

The New Fundamental Plane of 4FGL Blazars Based on the Black Hole Spin-mass Energy
The fundamental plane is a key scaling relation connecting jet power, accretion, and black hole mass in active galactic nuclei. In this work, we construct a sample of 73 Fermi-Large Area Telescope-detected 4FGL blazars and explore an extended version of ...

A Topology Optimization Framework for the Inverse Design of Nonlinear Mechanical Metamaterials
This work uses topology optimization to design unit cells for mechanical metamaterials with a prescribed nonlinear stress–strain response. The framework adds contact and postbuckling modeling to synthesize microstructures for three highly nonlinear responses, including pseudoductile behavior, monostable with snap‐through buckling, and bistable ...

Collisionless Shocks Having Relativistic Velocities in Relativistically Hot Plasmas
Shocks in relativistically hot plasmas are thought to exist in various high-energy astrophysical phenomena, but it is not clear how relativistic collisionless shocks are formed, and whether particles are accelerated by the shock as in the case of cold ...

Optimization Techniques for the Power Beaming Analysis of Microwave Transmissions from a Space-Based Solar Power Satellite [PDF]
In the 21st century, the development of technologies to produce carbon free power sources remains paramount. In this paper, we study an optimal power transmission strategy from a space-based satellite generation station to Earth using scalar ...

Ionizing radiation fluctuations and large-scale structure in the Lyman-alpha forest
We investigate the large-scale inhomogeneities of the hydrogen ionizing radiation field in the Universe at redshift z=3. Using a raytracing algorithm, we simulate a model in which quasars are the dominant sources of radiation.

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.

A predictive framework for realistic star-planet radio emission in compact systems
Context. Radio emission from star-planet interactions (SPIs) beyond our Solar System has yet to be firmly detected, primarily due to weak signals, directional beaming effects, and low-frequency emissions blocked by Earth’s ionosphere.
