Power budgeted packet scheduling for wireless multimedia

2012 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2012
In this paper we profile a particular tradeoff between power budget and video quality that emerges in the transmission of multimedia packets over a wireless channel. These packets are due to arrive to a receiver at a particular time, so we consider a finite horizon problem over which multimedia data are transmitted.

Hierarchical power budgeting for Dark Silicon chips

2015 IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Low Power Electronics and Design (ISLPED), 2015
The emerging Dark Silicon limitation has led the application designers to carefully consider the available Thermal Design Power (TDP) budgets, hardware resources, and software characteristics. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical scheme for distributing the resources and TDP budget among concurrently executing applications with multi-threaded ...

Participatory budgeting for culture: handing power to communities?

2019
The concept of participatory budgeting was developed as a means of bypassing corrupt local elites and creating better governance in developing countries.
