Direct power control of matrix converter based unified power flow controllers [PDF]

open access: yes2009 35th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics, 2009
This paper presents the Direct Power Control of Three-Phase Matrix Converters (DPC-MC) operating as Unified Power Flow Controllers (UPFC). Since matrix converters allow direct AC/AC power conversion without intermediate energy storage link, the resulting UPFC has reduced volume and cost, together with higher reliability.

Active power control in a hybrid PV-storage power plant for frequency support [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The recent increase of intermittent power generation plants connected to the electric power grids may stress the operation of power systems. So, grid codes started considering these power plants should con- tribute to the grid support functions. Recently,

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Contribution of a smart transformer in the local primary control of a microgrid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In order to enable an easy participation of microgrids in the electricity markets, the smart transformer (ST) concept has been developed. The ST controls the power exchange between a microgrid and the utility network by only controlling its microgrid ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Intelligent dynamic management of microgrid security using MOBAS-EPB-based multi-objective optimization

open access: yesEnergy Informatics
A dynamic management model is developed to improve security and operational resilience in power monitoring networks in isolated microgrid conditions. These systems are subject to frequency and voltage instabilities due to limited generation capacity, low

Improved Predictive Power Control of Cdma System in Rayleigh Fading Channel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper an improved prediction-based power control is proposed for code division multiple access (CDMA)systems in Rayleigh fading channel environments. One of the most serious problems which degrades the performanceof power control algorithm is the

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Analysis of the monitoring and identification effect of system cognitive service technology on DC system in power grid

open access: yesEnergy Informatics
In contemporary power grid infrastructure, the stability and health of DC systems are critical for uninterrupted energy delivery. As these systems become more complex, traditional monitoring methods are inadequate for detecting early warning signs and ...
