Thermodynamic Bound on Heat-to-Power Conversion [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2018
In systems described by the scattering theory, there is an upper bound, lower than Carnot, on the efficiency of steady-state heat to work conversion at a given output power. We show that interacting systems can overcome such bound and saturate, in the thermodynamic limit, the much more favorable linear-response bound.

Generic maximum power point tracking controller for small-scale wind turbines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The output power of a wind energy conversion system (WECS) is maximized if the wind rotor is driven at an optimal rotational speed for a particular wind speed. To achieve this, a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller is usually used.

Can conversion of CO2 into fuels via electrochemical or thermochemical reduction be energy efficient and reduce emissions?

open access: yes, 2022
Electrochemical and thermochemical conversion of CO2 into fuels are significant carbon conversion technologies to mitigate carbon emissions. Based on the captured CO2, many previous studies carried out tech-economic and environmental analyses for the CO ...

Exploring the Power of Converse Events [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
D ynamic epistemic logic as viewed by Baltag, Moss and Solecki (BMS) and propositional dynamic logic (PDL) offer different semantics of events. On the one hand, BMS adds dynamics to epistemic logic by introducing so-called event models as syntactic objects into the language.

A control scheme for utilizing energy storage of the modular multilevel converter for power oscillation damping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This paper presents a control scheme that utilizes energy storage of the Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) for Power Oscillation Damping (POD) service. Such a service is used to enhance grid stability by providing damping power in the electromechanical (

Single-stage three-phase AC to DC conversion with isolation and Bi-directional power flow

open access: yes, 2014
An approach for three-phase AC to DC conversion is proposed, which consists of a single-stage while offering galvanic isolation, soft-switching, bi-directional power flow and a significant reduction of inductive and capacitive energy storage.

Power Conversion Interface [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Trend in Scientific Research and Development, 2018
The global environment is degrading and all efforts are being made to reverse the situation. Power generation based on fossil fuel is partly responsible for the polluting emissions. Because of this, renewable non pollutant energy sources have received a lot of attention in the power community.
