Power-Distribution Control by Absorber Deficit Compensation
Nuclear Technology, 1976There is a need for development of strategies for optimal or suboptimal power-distribution control in large inherently unstable pressurized water reactors. The control concept is being developed with regard to its on-line use on a process computer. One of these concepts is the so-called absorber deficit compensation method, which is well suited to ...

Power Deficit: A Supply Side Management Perspective
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2010The growth of Indian economy has altered the demand-supply situation for power generation and also it has set the process of accelerated capacity addition and opening up of markets by regulatory interventions. In the backdrop of the expected growth rate of 9% envisaged for the Indian economy, power sector requires a capacity addition of 78,700 MW in ...

Do Bilateral Power Deficits Influence Direction-Specific Movement Patterns?
Research in Sports Medicine, 2007This study examined the effect of bilateral power differences on direction-specific movement patterns in American collegiate football players. Sixty-two college football players performed unilateral vertical jump testing prior to agility testing (3-cone drill). Three trials were performed on the subjects' dominant and nondominant sides.

China's Rising Power: Economic Growth vs. Freedom Deficit
Journal of Human Rights, 2011Our analysis sets out to explain the relationship between economic growth and political freedoms within the context of Chinese domestic politics and foreign policy. The images of China as a rising military power with a growing economy have drawn attention away from the degree to which democratic values and norms have been marginalized in China.

Smart Power and the Strategic Deficit
The RUSI Journal, 2014The UK's 2010 Strategic Defence and Security Review asserted that there would be no ‘strategic shrinkage’ despite the significant cuts to be made to the defence budget, and thus to the country's military instrument. However, Robert Fry argues that this claim has since been shown to be unrealistic; indeed, the UK is suffering from a growing ‘strategic ...

Power, individuation, and the cross-race recognition deficit
Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, 2010Abstract The well-known cross-race effect (CRE) in facial recognition is observed as better recognition for faces of one’s own race than faces of another race. Across two experiments, this very robust phenomenon was attenuated via an increase in cross-race (CR) recognition when CR targets were perceived as wielding power either because of their ...

WAMS-based Load Shedding for Systems Suffering Power Deficit
2005 IEEE/PES Transmission & Distribution Conference & Exposition: Asia and Pacific, 2005As the last resort, UFLS (under frequency load shedding) was introduced to recover system frequency and is widely deployed in present power systems. With the lessons learned from blackouts, this paper reveals that fast and precise load shedding to efficiently rebalance the power between generation and load has crucial significance.
