Power spectra of velocities and magnetic fields on the solar surface and their dependence on the unsigned magnetic flux density

open access: yes, 2012
We have performed power spectral analysis of surface temperatures, velocities, and magnetic fields, using spectro-polarimetric data taken with the Hinode Solar Optical Telescope.

Tumor and germline testing with next generation sequencing in epithelial ovarian cancer: a prospective paired comparison using an 18‐gene panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Genetic testing in epithelial ovarian cancer includes both germline and tumor‐testing. This approach often duplicates resources. The current prospective study assessed the feasibility of tumor‐first multigene testing by comparing tumor tissue with germline testing of peripheral blood using an 18‐gene NGS panel in 106 patients.

Hybrid Energy Storage Black Start Control Strategy Based on Super Capacitor

open access: yesEnergies
Addressing the issue of efficient, economical, and reliable operation of a single lead-acid battery (LAB) black start system in complex scenarios, a hybrid energy storage system (HESS) black start scheme based on super capacitors (SCs) is proposed.

Design of Direct Injection Jet Ignition High Performance Naturally Aspirated Motorcycle Engines

open access: yesDesigns, 2019
Thanks to the adoption of high pressure, direct injection and jet ignition, plus electrically assisted turbo-compounding, the fuel conversion efficiency of Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) F1 engines has been spectacularly ...

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Coulomb gap in one-dimensional disordered electron systems

open access: yes, 2002
The density of states of one-dimensional disordered electron systems with long range Coulomb interaction is studied in the weak pinning limit. The density of states is found to follow a power law with an exponent determined by localization length, and ...

Grid-Array Rectenna With Wide Angle Coverage for Effectively Harvesting RF Energy of Low Power Density

open access: yesIEEE transactions on microwave theory and techniques, 2019
It is difficult to effectively rectify or convert low power in the circuit stage of harvesters. The high-gain antenna can offer a higher level of power and is beneficial to RF power harvesting in a low power density environment. To extend the narrow beam

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Energy Storage Control and Capacity Optimization for Regenerative Braking Power Fluctuation Mitigation Under Port Renewable Energy Integration

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation
To solve the problems of power fluctuations, voltage violations, transformer overloading and restrictions on renewable energy consumption in ports, which are caused by fluctuation of renewables and regenerative braking power, an energy storage system ...
