Secure High DER Penetration Power Distribution Via Autonomously Coordinated Volt/VAR Control [PDF]
Traditionally voltage control in distribution power system (DPS) is performed through voltage regulating devices (VRDs) including on load tap changers (OLTCs), step voltage regulators (SVRs), and switched capacitor banks (SCBs). The recent IEEE 1547-2018

Intelligent optimization algorithm-based electricity pricing strategy for smart building clusters
With the continuous infusion of renewable energy sources, smart buildings have evolved from single-load characteristics into dual characteristics with both electric energy production and consumption capability. Concurrently, the peak and off-peak periods

Options for Control of Reactive Power by Distributed Photovoltaic Generators [PDF]
High penetration levels of distributed photovoltaic(PV) generation on an electrical distribution circuit present several challenges and opportunities for distribution utilities. Rapidly varying irradiance conditions may cause voltage sags and swells that

Distributed power flow controller
This paper presents the simulation results of Distributed Power Flow Controller model designed in MATLAB/SIMULINK. A simple two bus system is considered for simulation. Power flow between the two buses is obtained by providing a phase difference between the buses. DPFC consists of one shunt converter and six single phase series converters.

Active distribution power system with multi-terminal DC links [PDF]
A fast power restoration operational scheme and relevant stabilizing control is proposed for active distribution power systems with multi-terminal DC network in replacement of the conventional normal open switches. A 9-feeder benchmark distribution power

Distributed Transient Frequency Control in Power Networks [PDF]
Modern power networks face increasing challenges in controlling their transient frequency behavior at acceptable levels due to low inertia and highly-dynamic units. This paper presents a distributed control strategy regulated on a subset of buses in a power network to maintain their transient frequencies in safe regions while preserving asymptotic ...

Competitive power control of distributed power plants
Nowadays, the electrical energy sector is currently found in a dramatic changing paradigm, which moves towards an increasing trend in generating power at distribution levels, where electricity is typically consumed, by means of non-conventional/renewable based generation units.

Industrial Fieldbus Improvements in Power Distribution and Conducted Noise Immunity With No Extra Costs [PDF]
Industrial distributed control continues the move toward networks at all levels. At lower levels, control networks provide flexibility, reliability, and low cost, although perhaps the simplest but most important advantage is the reduced volume of ...
