Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Inertial Energy Storage for Spacecraft [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
The feasibility of inertial energy storage in a spacecraft power system is evaluated on the basis of a conceptual integrated design that encompasses a composite rotor, magnetic suspension and a permanent magnet (PM) motor/generator for a 3-kW orbital ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Distributed Optimal Reactive Power Control of Power Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
To accommodate the increasing penetration level of distributed generators (DGs) in the electrical energy power system, appropriate reactive power control of DGs, which can lead to the voltage profile improvement and power loss minimization, should be addressed.

Distributed power dispatch via bifurcation control [PDF]

open access: yes2014 IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing (GlobalSIP), 2014
Distributed generators (DGs) are becoming widely deployed in today's power grid. These energy sources are typically sustainable and cost-effective but are highly variable based on local environmental conditions. This variability poses many challenges to the practical deployment of DGs in the grid.

Overview of increasing the penetration of renewable energy sources in the distribution grid by developing control strategies and using ancillary services [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Increasing the renewables energy resources in the distribution network is one of the main challenges of the distributed system operator due to instability, power quality and feeder capacity problems. This paper proposes a solution for further penetration

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Generalized linear‐constrained optimal power flow for distribution networks

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2023
Optimal power flow (OPF) plays an important role in the secure and economical operation of the distribution network. This paper proposes a novel generalized linear‐constrained optimal power flow (GLOPF) model for both radial and mesh distribution ...
