Switched-capacitor power electronics circuits

IEEE Circuits and Systems Magazine, 2001
One of the main orientations in power electronics in the last decade has been the development of switching-mode converters without inductors and transformers. Light weight, small size and high power density are the result of using only switches and capacitors in the power stage of these converters.

An educational tool for power electronics circuits

Computer Applications in Engineering Education, 2009
AbstractIn this study, an educational tool has been prepared for a shorter term and more economic education of power electronics circuits. In parallel with the improvements of semiconductor technology, the development of power electronics circuits has magnified the importance of either teorical or practical education of power electronics course.

POWER ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT ANALYSIS TECHNIQUES

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1977
Abstract A number of methods of analyzing power electronic circuits are discussed and illustrated. Each of these methods has unique advantages and disadvantages. No one method appears to have all of the features necessary for it to become the preferable analysis approach.

Quadratic Power Conversion for Power Electronics: Principles and Circuits

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Regular Papers, 2012
Quadratic converters have the voltage conversion ratios of two cascaded converters, but with fewer switches. They are not widely used, however, because they are generally less efficient than other converter types, but they can be useful for certain applications.

Power electronic circuit topology

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1988
A generalized concept of 'sources' that embraces both power generators and power consumers is presented. This approach simplifies the basic topological aspects of power electronic converter circuits, which are reduced to an array of switches for selectively interconnecting two source systems.

Power electronic circuits and devices

2005
This chapter reviews the main classes of circuits and devices that are currently used, emphasizing the basic operating principles and characteristics. The three-pulse rectifier supplies a resistive load in series with a filter inductor, the inductor being large enough to ensure that the load current is continuous and ripple-free.

GaN Integrated Circuits for Power Electronics

2019 Device Research Conference (DRC), 2019
Due to their excellent material properties, GaN-based devices for power electronics have been the subject of intensive research for >10 years. However, only in the last few years, has the commercial adoption started to reach a critical mass. The power electronics community is now rapidly moving to adopt wide bandgap materials in power systems to ...

A new approach for the simulation of power electronic circuits

ICECS'99. Proceedings of ICECS '99. 6th IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems (Cat. No.99EX357), 2002
The new technique for simulating power electronic circuits consists of connecting voltage sources in parallel with nonlinear elements such as switches and diodes. Alternatively, current sources may be connected in series with the nonlinear elements. The mismatch currents through the voltage sources (or the mismatch voltages across the current sources ...
