The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

The quasi-continuous exhaust regime in JET
The quasi-continuous exhaust (QCE) regime is a regime that is naturally type-I ELM-free. It combines the high density at the plasma edge needed for power exhaust with the high normalised energy confinement typical for H-mode operation.

Epistemic Exhaustion and the Retention of Power
AbstractEpistemic exhaustion is cognitive fatigue generated by efforts to determine, retain, or communicate what one believes under conditions that make doing so especially taxing. I argue that the creation and maintenance of epistemic exhaustion is a tool that the socially and politically powerful can and do use in order to retain power.

PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Predictive power-sharing scaling law in double-null L-mode plasmas
The physical mechanisms regulating the power sharing at the outer targets of L-mode double-null (DN) configurations are investigated using nonlinear, flux-driven, three-dimensional two-fluid simulations.

Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

COMPASS Upgrade: a high-field tokamak for ITER- and DEMO-relevant research
To achieve their goals, future thermonuclear reactors such as ITER and DEMO are expected to operate plasmas with a high magnetic field, triangularity and confinement. To address the corresponding challenges, the concept of the high-field ( $B_{\textrm{T}}

Carbon dioxide removal from power plant exhausts
Abstract The various options for removing carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) from power plant exhaust gases are reviewed. An absorption-stripping system using amine solutions and dissolution of gaseous CO 2 into deep ocean waters is a feasible choice with a marginal cost of electricity below 15%.
