Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Core and edge modeling of JT-60SA H-mode highly radiative scenarios using SOLEDGE3X–EIRENE and METIS codes

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics
In its first phase of exploitation, JT-60SA will be equipped with an inertially cooled divertor, which can sustain heat loads of 10 MW/m2 on the targets for a few seconds, which is much shorter than the intended discharge duration. Therefore, in order to

Corrosion and Process Analysis of a Preoxidized MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode in Laboratory‐Scale Na‐Cryolite Molten Salt Electrolysis of Aluminum at 1000°C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
EDX elemental map of the pre‐oxidized MgO–steel cermet anode cross section after electrolysis. The development of inert anodes for aluminum electrolysis remains challenging due to the high corrosivity of cryolite‐based melts at 950°C–1000°C. This study investigates the corrosion and process behavior of a carbon‐free MgO–steel cermet anode derived from ...

Exhaust Gas Recirculation as a Major Technique Designed to Reduce NOх Emissions from Marine Diesel Engines

open access: yesNaše More (Dubrovnik), 2019
The study objective is to identify to what extent the recirculation of exhaust gas from a low-speed marine diesel engine affects environmental, economic and power-related parameters in engine operation.

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Reduction of NOx and PM in Marine Diesel Engine Exhaust Gas using Microwave Plasma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Abatement of NOx and particulate matters (PM) of marine diesel exhaust gas using microwave (MW) non-thermal plasma is presented in this paper. NOx mainly consist of NO and less concentration of NO2 in a typical two stoke marine diesel engine and ...

Impact of Pre‐Oxidation Treatments on a Recycled MgO/Steel‐Composite as Carbon Free Anode in Aluminum‐Electrolysis Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cermets (60 vol.% AISI 316L stainless steel, 40 vol.% recycled MgO), intended for use in aluminum electrolysis, were pre‐oxidized in three furnaces with different heating technologies and subjected to a cryolite corrosion test. The different atmospheres influenced the formation of oxide layers, which in turn affected corrosion resistance and ...

Analytic Criteria for Power Exhaust in Divertors due to Impurity Radiation

open access: yes, 1995
Present divertor concepts for next step experiments such ITER and TPX rely upon impurity and hydrogen radiation to transfer the energy from the edge plasma to the main chamber and divertor chamber walls. The efficiency of these processes depends strongly

Thermodynamic potential of Rankine and flash cycles for waste heat recovery in a heavy duty Diesel engine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In heavy duty Diesel engines more than 50% of the fuel energy is not converted to brake power, but is lost as heat. One promising way to recapture a portion of this heat and convert it to power is by using thermodynamic power cycles. Using the heavy duty
