Usefulness of DC power flow for active power flow analysis

IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2005, 2005
In recent days almost every study concerning the analyses of power systems for market related purposes uses DC power flow. DC power flow is a simplification of a full power flow looking only at active power flows. Aspects as voltage support and reactive power management are not considered.

Power flow analysis using optimal power flow method

2015 International Conference on Innovations in Information, Embedded and Communication Systems (ICIIECS), 2015
Throughout the entire world, the electric power industry has undergone a considerable change in the past decade and will continue to do so for the next several decades. In the past the electric power industry has been either a government-controlled or a government-regulated industry which existed as a monopoly in its service region.

Probabilistic Power Flow Analysis

2020
Modern power systems are quickly evolving as many fundamental changes are currently taking place. On the one hand, there is an accelerated market transformation. For example, the European Union (EU) is moving fast to a single European electricity market, thereby increasing the volume of energy trade between countries. As a consequence, the cross-border

Fuzzy power flow analysis

Electric Power Systems Research, 1994
Abstract Imprecision in power flow analysis is modeled using fuzzy set theory. Fuzziness on the power generation and loads used in a power flow analysis implies fuzziness on the outputs; a method is suggested for calculating imprecision through informative statements about the system generation data and availability of generating units in the power ...

Power Flow Analysis

2010
This chapter describes the power flow analysis from both analytic and algorithmic viewpoints. Section 4.1 introduces the power flow problem through a simple example and clarifies the differences between power flow and circuit analysis. Section 4.2 provides a taxonomy of the power flow problem, while Section 4.3 presents the standard power flow ...

Probabilistic analysis of power flows

Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1974
The paper describes and examines a technique which permits the power-flow problem in a power system to be analysed probabilistically instead of using normal deterministic methods. All the nodal loads and generation are defined as random variables and the power flow in each line is computed in terms of a probability density function. The expected values

Analysis of Power Flows without Solving Power Flow Equations

1983 American Control Conference, 1983
The purpose of solving power flow equations is examined. Our work on the analysis of power flows without solving power flow equations is reviewed. The application of the results and further extension of the ideas to security assessment and control are also mentioned.

Power flow analysis

2015
Models of the individual components of the electric power system are described in Part I. The purpose of this chapter is to study mathematical relations between individual components to develop a model for the overall power system network, which is made of an interconnection of the various components.

Power flow analysis of spacecraft power systems

[1989] Proceedings. The Twenty-First Southeastern Symposium on System Theory, 2003
Results are presented of recent work in the area of spacecraft power system analysis. The network description used for spacecraft power systems analysis must allow for node (bus) voltages that do not have a common reference point. Techniques from linear graph theory are used to develop a three-port admittance description of a four-terminal network. The

Power flow control capability analysis of unified power flow controller

i-manager's Journal on Power Systems Engineering, 2022
In the field of power system restructuring, Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) technology has become indispensable for alleviating the challenges of load flow control, voltage control, transient stability, and dynamic stability. The Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is the fastest, most flexible, and most capable FACTS device ...
