Power System Response to Wind Power Fluctuations

2005/2006 PES TD, 2006
This paper reports on a study aimed at analysis of the power grid response to fluctuations in the wind farms output powers. Using transfer function analysis of thermal generation plants, the paper demonstrates that for an allowable 1% deviation from 60 Hz, the peak fluctuating power at a single wind farm can go as high as 5% of the total power ratings ...

Analysis of Voltage Fluctuations in Power Networks

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2008
Voltage fluctuations analysis is one of the basic elements of power quality assessment in the power network. Presently, two voltage fluctuations measures are used-voltage fluctuations indexes and short-term Pst and long-term Plt flicker severity indicators. The voltage fluctuations indexes describe the variability of the root-mean-square (rms) value by

The power fluctuations of a wind turbine

Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 1996
Abstract At the beginning of the paper the power fluctuations in the case of a sinusoidal gust are investigated. A quasi-steady model is derived. Then this model is corrected to account for the dynamic characteristics of the turbine. The correction is introduced using a special correction function which is obtained after running a complete dynamic ...

Waveforms with minimum power fluctuation

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1990
Pumplin's algorithm [J. Pumplin, J. Acoust. SOC. Am. 78, 100-104 (1985)] is used to find waveforms that have the smallest possible power fluctuation for a given power spectrum. Such optimized waveforms also tend to have very low crest factors. For a wideband case, the algorithm must be run anew for each particular power spectrum. It has been applied to

Power spectrum of valence fluctuations

Physical Review B, 1978
The power spectrum of the temporal fluctuations in the occupation number of an ionic shell has been evaluated using a model Hamiltonian that represents configurations hybridized with conduction-electron states. Explicit forms for the autocorrelation function and the power spectrum are derived.

Characteristics of Wind Power Fluctuations

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Wind power is also known as junk. This is because wind power fluctuations affect the security and stability operation. Wind power wind turbines created is mainly concerned with the speed of wind. Because of the wind direction uncertain, intermittent, and wake effects between each unit wind farm, wind turbines cannot make that kind of power according to

Fluctuations of the Power of Coupled Modes

Bell System Technical Journal, 1972
Using perturbation theory, an expression for the variance of the power of each mode of a multimode waveguide with randomly-coupled modes is derived. The variance builds up from zero to a constant value as a function of z (length along the waveguide). For most cases of interest, the variance is equal to the square of the average power.

Analysis on the Fluctuation of Wind Power

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015
This paper is aimed at exploring the characteristic fluctuation of wind power based on samples from a certain wind farm. First, the paper is to analyze fluctuations of wind power at different time scales. According to a sliding difference algorithm to build wind power fluctuations evaluation.

Balancing fluctuating power sources

2010 World Non-Grid-Connected Wind Power and Energy Conference, 2010
It is necessary to combine and integrate technologies since no single renewable energy source is sufficient to be able to stand alone. Non-grid applications will be applied as well. Because of fluctuation of wind and solar power, integration of new energy including non-grid solutions were important to offer a steady consumption of power. Proper storage
