Generation Schedule Optimisation for Gas Turbine Power Systems
Volume 2: Turbo Expo 2007, 2007In the last decades, the approach to dispatch and manage electricity in power generation plants has been one of the most difficult problems in the electricity market. Despite of all the benefits of distributed poly-generation and combined heat and power systems, their penetration in the power market worldwide is quite modest and one of the barriers ...

Neural networks for generation scheduling in power systems
[Proceedings 1992] IJCNN International Joint Conference on Neural Networks, 2003A neural network for generation scheduling in power systems is presented. The network consists of two levels which correspond to different types of variables in the generation scheduling problem. The first level is a neural net which solves economic dispatch, a sub-problem in the generation scheduling problem.

Two-stage stochastic power generation scheduling in microgrids
2014 IEEE 27th Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (CCECE), 2014In this study, the power scheduling problem in μ-grids is investigated taking the uncertainties in power demand and wind power into account. The problem is formulated as a stochastic mixed-integer linear optimization problem with the objective being minimizing the total μ-grid cost.

Medium-term generation scheduling in electric power systems
2012 11th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering, 2012The paper considers specific features of problem statement for the medium-term generation scheduling in a wholesale electricity market environment. An approach is suggested to solve the problem on the basis of bilevel optimization models. Such models take into account possible distortion of data on economic parameters of generating units and further ...

Optimum hydroelectric-power-generation scheduling by analogue computer
Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1971The use of an analogue computer for short-term optimum hydroelectric-power-generation scheduling is presented. The optimum objective is to minimise the instantaneous energy taken from the system reservoirs, subject to satisfying a predetermined load demand. All downstream stations on a river system are treated as run-of-the-river types. Flowtime delays

New optimization techniques for power system generation scheduling
2018Generation scheduling in restructured electric power systems is critical to maintain the stability and security of a power system and economical operation of the electricity market. However, new generation scheduling problems (GSPs) are emerging under critical or new circumstances, such as generator starting sequence and black-start (BS) generator ...

Optimal scheduling of power generation by evolutionary algorithms
2018The unit commitment (UC) and Economic Dispatch (ED) are important part of the set of actions included in the concept of Power Systems Operation. In this paper we describe the application of Genetic Algoritms (GAs) to UC and ED problems using both binary and real coding, with increased efficiency because the use of Convergence Accelerators derived from ...
