Helical flow of power‐law fluids
AIChE Journal, 1990A numerical solution is presented for the helical flow of a power-law fluid between coaxial cylinders. The solution is valid for isothermal steady creeping flow in an annular space of arbitrary thickness. Results are presented in the form of relations between dimensionless integral flow characteristics (e.g.

Spreading dynamics of power-law fluid droplets
Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2009This paper aims at providing a summary of the theoretical models available for non-Newtonian fluid spreading dynamics. Experimental findings and model predictions for a Newtonian fluid spreading test are briefly reviewed. Then how the complete wetting and partial wetting power-law fluids spread over a solid substrate is examined. The possible extension

POWER-LAW FLUIDS IN POROUS MEDIA
Chemical Engineering Communications, 1987An analysis is presented to describe the parallel flow of power-law fluids within a channel bounded by porous media. It is shown that there is an excess flow above the Darcy's law prediction for the porous medium region adjacent to the channel/ porous medium boundary. This also leads to a higher flow rate in the channel.

Turbulent Flow of Power-Law Fluids
Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1975Velocity profiles for the steady incompressible turbulent flow of power-law fluids through circular conduits were calculated by numerical quadrature considering both the viscous stresses and the Reynolds' stresses operative over the entire cross section of the flow. A non-Newtonian stress coeffiecient, K sub Sn, was introduced along with mixing length,

Entrance effects for power‐law fluid
Polymer Engineering & Science, 1994AbstractEntrance pressure losses for the creeping flow of a power‐law fluid are calculated for an abrupt contraction of ratio 2, 4, 8 and ∞ for both the axisymmetric and planar cases using P2P1 and PP1 finite elements. Contrary to some earlier findings in the literature, the entrance pressure loss obtained by using the two different types of finite ...

Finite element simulations of double diffusion in a staggered cavity filled with a power-law fluid
The Physics of FluidsDouble diffusion refers to a phenomenon where two different components of a fluid (such as heat and mass) exhibit distinct diffusive behaviors. In this study, we employ finite element-based numerical simulations to investigate the phenomenon of double ...

Natural convection in power-law fluids
International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 1986Abstract In the case of natural convection to power-law fluids of high Prandtl number it is shown that the appropriate dimensionless parameters are the generalized Rayleigh number and the power-law index n. Such a presentation brings out more clearly the influence of n on the Nusselt number and facilitates comparison of experimental and analytical ...
