Development and Preliminary In Vivo Study of 3D‐Printed Bioactive Glass Scaffolds with Trabecular Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the fabrication of trabecular bioactive glass scaffolds (composition “1d”: 46.1SiO2‐28.7CaO‐8.8MgO‐6.2P2O5‐5.7CaF2‐4.5Na2O wt%) through vat photopolymerization and the relevant results from mechanical testing and in vivo implantation procedures in rabbit femora, showing great promise for bone tissue engineering applications.

A Note on the Drag Coefficient of Steady Flow of Non-Newtonian, Power-Law Fluids across Unbounded Two-Dimensional Bodies at Low Reynolds Numbers

open access: yesFluids, 2017
The flow of a non-Newtonian, power-law fluid, directed normally to long, two-dimensional horizontal bodies, is considered in the present note. It is found that for low Reynolds numbers ( Re ≤ 0.1 ) and a low power-law index (shear-thinning fluids ...

Vortex sheet dynamics and turbulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The nonlinear evolution of a vortex sheet driven by the Kelvin--Helmholtz instability is characterized by the formation of a spiral possessing complex stretching and intensity patterns.

Generalized Second Law of Thermodynamics for FRW Cosmology with Power-Law Entropy Correction

open access: yes, 2012
In this work, we have considered the power law correction of entropy on the horizon. If the flat FRW Universe is filled with the n components fluid with interactions, the GSL of thermodynamics for apparent and event horizons have been investigated for ...

Effects of Carbon Nanoparticles on Triboelectro‐Induced Surface Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Carbon nanoparticles added to grease modify the electrocontact behavior. The synergy of particle concentration and electric current dominates the surface damage of metals in contact. Electrical surface damage caused by current leakage is a critical challenge in high‐performance applications such as electric vehicle (EV) drivetrains and wind turbine ...

Flow Modeling of a Non-Newtonian Viscous Fluid in Elastic-Wall Microchannels

open access: yesFluids
The use of polymer microspheres is becoming increasingly widespread. Along with their most common applications, they are beginning to be used in the synthesis of photonic crystals, microstructure analysis and multiplexed diagnostics for disease control ...

Aging and Crossovers in Phase-Separating Fluid Mixtures

open access: yes, 2012
We use state-of-the-art molecular dynamics simulations to study hydrodynamic effects on aging during kinetics of phase separation in a fluid mixture. The domain growth law shows a crossover from a diffusive regime to a viscous hydrodynamic regime.

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Similarity solutions of quasi three dimensional power law fluids using the method of satisfaction of asymptotic boundary conditions

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2015
The work presented in this paper is focused on deductive group-theoretic transformations to develop the similarity solution of steady, laminar, incompressible quasi three dimensional boundary layer flow governing power law fluid.

Quantum algorithm for Bose-Einstein condensate quantum fluid dynamics

open access: yes, 2009
The dynamics of vortex solitons in a BEC superfluid is studied. A quantum lattice-gas algorithm (localization-based quantum computation) is employed to examine the dynamical behavior of vortex soliton solutions of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation (phi^4 ...
