Minimization of Power Losses in Cooperating Manipulators
1991 American Control Conference, 1991The control of multiple manipulators handling a common object entails the solution of an underdetermined system of linear equations which represents the system’s dynamics. In order to choose an optimal solution to this problem, various approaches have been proposed: minimum internal force and minimum power, among others.

Reactive power control for real power-loss minimization
IEEE Computer Applications in Power, 1988An accurate and fast technique for real-time control of system voltage and reactive power of large-scale power systems is presented. The one-bus-away method has been modified to obtain accurate results with moderate computer requirements for online application to large-scale power networks.

Minimization of real power losses using reactive power control
Electric Power Systems Research, 1989Abstract Reactive power control in a power system is useful to improve the voltage profile and reduce the system power losses. The power loss is minimized with VAR sources as control variables (capacitors/inductors, SVSs and generator reactive powers) and variable transformer tap ratios. The constraints are on the bus voltage magnitudes.

Induction motor drives with minimal power losses
Russian Electrical Engineering, 2012The goal is to synthesize a control system for an induction motor such as to ensure operation with minimal power losses. Standard nonlinearity and losses in the steel of the motor’s stator are taken into account in MatLab simulation. The proposed control system reduces the losses by up to 25% in comparison with classical scalar control.

Loss Power Minimization Using Particle Swarm Optimization
The 2006 IEEE International Joint Conference on Neural Network Proceedings, 2006This paper presents a particle swarm optimization (PSO) as an efficient approach for loss reduction study. This issue can be formulated as a nonlinear optimization problem. The proposed approach employs the PSO algorithm for optimal setting of optimal power flow (OPF) based on loss minimization (LM) function.

Power Losses Minimization considering Small-Signal Stability Constraint
2021 14th IEEE International Conference on Industry Applications (INDUSCON), 2021This paper proposes an optimization approach to solve the Small-Signal Constrained Optimal Power Flow (SSOPF) in transmission systems. The main goal is to minimize the active power losses taking the minimum damping ratio in closed-loop operation as a small-signal stability constraint.

Reactive Power Planning for transmission loss minimization
2011 5th International Power Engineering and Optimization Conference, 2011Total system losses of the power system relate to the reactive power management in the network. This paper presents a method to minimize the system losses by utilizing Reactive Power Planning (RPP) approach. In this technique, the control variables of RPP were formulated as an optimization problem and Multiagent Immune Evolutionary Programming (MAIEP ...

Stochastic loss minimization for power distribution networks
2014 North American Power Symposium (NAPS), 2014Distribution systems will be critically challenged by reverse power flows and voltage fluctuations due to the integration of distributed renewable generation, demand response, and electric vehicles. Yet the same transformative changes coupled with advances in microelectronics offer new opportunities for reactive power management in distribution grids ...

ACOPF with SOCP Hierarchy for Power Loss Minimization
2021 18th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI-CON), 2021Power loss minimization can decrease the dispatch cost of operation and improve system security. Thus, power loss minimization plays an important role in a power distribution system. In this paper, the alternating current optimal power flow (ACOPF) problem is proposed to optimize the transmission loss taking into account system operating limits.
