Minimizing asymmetric loss in medium-term wind power forecasting
Renewable Energy, 2015Abstract In this article we propose a new wind power forecasting model that does not focus on providing the most precise forecasts, but minimizes the financial loss of forecasting impreciseness. We show that the loss function is asymmetric and therefore account for asymmetry during the estimation stage of our model.

Power Loss Minimization Through Maximal Power Endurance or Repeated Power Training Programs
International Journal of Sports Physiology and PerformancePurpose: The present study analyzed the effects of a maximal-power-endurance (MPE) versus a repeated-power-ability (RPA) training program on different strength, power, and repeated-power measurements in a short- and long-term training period and the relationships between changes in all variables. Methods: Twenty-two young highly trained male basketball

Power system losses minimization with transient stability constraints
2011 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting, 2011This paper presents a study of Optimal Power Flow calculation, coupled with additional transient stability constraints (TSC-OPF). Besides, with some modifications to the formulation of the transient stability constraint, a better convergence property can be achieved.

Active Power Loss Minimization By Harmony Search Algorithm
Michael Faraday IET International Summit 2015, 2015This paper presents a recently developed optimization technique named as harmony search algorithm (HSA). Objective of the proposed work is to minimize the active power loss. This algorithm is tested on standard IEEE 14 and 30bus test system for the determination of optimal setting of control/design variables such as tap setting of transformer, reactive

Reactive Power Loss Minimization on an Interconnected Electric Power Network
2018The inability of power system to maintain a proper balance of reactive power is the major cause of voltage collapse. A system can be saved from voltage collapse by reducing the reactive power load or by adding additional reactive power into the system. The electric power system is afflicted with continuous load shedding due to inadequate generation and

Consideration to minimize power losses in synchronous rectification
8th International Conference on Power Electronics - ECCE Asia, 2011A synchronous rectification in high performance converter design is an essential block for low voltage and high current applications since significant efficiency and power density improvements can be achieved by replacing schottky rectification with synchronous rectification MOSFETs.

Smart DER control for minimizing power losses in distribution feeders
Electric Power Systems Research, 2014Abstract Distributed energy resources, such as distributed generators and storage systems, are generally considered as active power sources. Indeed, they can also be used as reactive power resources, which contribute to reduce the power losses in a distribution feeder.

Probabilistic Minimal Loss Reconfiguration for Electric Power Distribution Control
2018 IEEE International Conference on Automation/XXIII Congress of the Chilean Association of Automatic Control (ICA-ACCA), 2018Although it is well-known that electric demand is a random variable, the reconfiguration theory still approaches this problem from a deterministic point of view; i.e., most of the network losses optimization problems solutions are built primarily for a specific profile of demand.

Loss Minimizing Control of PMSM for Electric Power Steering
2015 17th UKSim-AMSS International Conference on Modelling and Simulation (UKSim), 2015Electric drives are very useful in propelling the wheels of hybrid and electric vehicles (HEVs). They also play a central function in the electric power steering (EPS). In this paper, a loss minimizing scheme for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) was derived analytically and takes into consideration copper, iron and stray losses.

Losses minimization in power systems using artificial neural networks
MELECON '98. 9th Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference. Proceedings (Cat. No.98CH36056), 2002Most gradient-based optimization methods involve a major difficulty-the derivation of the objective function. Usually, a large number of objective functions cannot be derived and, frequently, are not even continuous. A method for computing the network output sensitivities with respect to input variations for multilayer perceptrons (MLP) using ...
