The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Optimal passive filter design for effective utilization of cables and transformers under non-sinusoidal conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Transformers and cables have overheating and reduced loading capabilities under non-sinusoidal conditions due to the fact that their losses increases with not only rms value but also frequency of the load current.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Implementation of Genetic Algorithm for Optimal Power Flow with Thyristor-controlled series compensator [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Finding the Optimal power flow for a multi-bus power system with a TCSC is crucial for reducing system costs while maximizing performance. To identify the best solution in such systems, a genetic algorithm (GA) should be implemented with multi objective ...

Power Losses Minimization for Optimal Operating Maps in Power-Split HEVs: A Case Study on the Chevrolet Volt

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The power-split architecture is the most promising hybrid electric powertrain. However, a real advantage in energy saving while maintaining high performance can be achieved only by the implementation of a proper energy management strategy.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Optimal Control of a PHEV Based on Backward-Looking Model Extended with Powertrain Transient Effects

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
The paper proposes a power flow control strategy for a P2 parallel plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) which takes into account torque and power losses related to engine-on and gear shift transients.

MINIMIZE POWER LOSS USING PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATION TECHNIQUE

open access: yesINTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY , 2019
This paper presents the solution of optimal power flow (OPF) using particle swarm optimization (PSO). The objective function is minimize power loss by adjustment the power control variables and at the same time satisfying the equality and inequality constraints.
