Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Four-Wave Mixing in Semiconductor Traveling-wave Amplifiers for Efficient, Broadband, Wavelength Conversion up to 65 nm [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Wavelength conversion is recognized as an important function in future fiber networks employing wavelength division multiplexing. The authors have recently demonstrated broad-band wavelength conversion over spans as large as 27 nm.

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Formal Fibers of Prime Ideals in Polynomial Rings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Let (R,m) be a Noetherian local domain of dimension n that is essentially finitely generated over a field and let R^ denote the m-adic completion of R.

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Analysis of Radio over Fiber system for mitigating four-wave mixing effect

open access: yesDigital Communications and Networks, 2020
In this paper, an efficient 8-channel 32Gbps RoF (Radio over Fiber) system incorporating Bessel Filter (8/32 RoF-BF) has been demonstrated to reduce the impact of non-linear transmission effects, specifically Four-Wave Mixing (FWM).

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Demonstration of GaN optical power converter with 60% power conversion efficiency

open access: yesApplied Physics Express
We demonstrate a GaN optical power converter (OPC) achieving a power conversion efficiency of 60.2% under monochromatic light illumination at 401 nm. The device maintains high performance under a high illumination intensity of 96 W cm ^−2 and at a high ...
