The Instability of Power Sharing [PDF]

open access: yes
Three models are presented in which two players agree to share power in a particular ratio, but either player may subsequently “fire” at the other, as in a duel, to try to eliminate it. The players have positive probabilities of eliminating each other by

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Power Control with Imperfect Exchanges and Applications to Spectrum Sharing

open access: yes, 2010
In various applications, the effect of errors in gradient-based iterations is of particular importance when seeking saddle points of the Lagrangian function associated with constrained convex optimization problems.

Differential regulation of ZFAS1 splice variants by endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocyte cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

A new graph perspective on max-min fairness in Gaussian parallel channels

open access: yes, 2008
In this work we are concerned with the problem of achieving max-min fairness in Gaussian parallel channels with respect to a general performance function, including channel capacity or decoding reliability as special cases.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Power Flow Control Strategy Based on the Voltage Vector Distribution for a Dual Power Electric Vehicle With an Open-End Winding Motor Drive System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
A dual inverter feeding an open-end winding permanent magnet synchronous motor drive system can realize controllable power sharing or power flow between two independent power sources without a dc/dc converter.

The African Union, constitutionalism and power-sharing [PDF]

open access: yes
Over the past decade, the African Union (AU) had put in place an important normative framework to promote constitutional rule and, in particular, orderly constitutional transfers of power in its member states. Through its Peace and Security Council (PSC),

Predicting and Comparing the Subjective Health Experience of Older Cancer Survivors and Non‐Cancer Survivors: A Modeling Approach

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This study underscores the significant influence of frailty and vitality on the subjective health experience of older cancer survivors with acceptance and control emerging as salient mediators. These findings affirm the conceptual and empirical robustness of the model highlighting its potential utility in shaping future interventions for older cancer ...
