Smoothing spectral power distribution of daylights
Color Research & Application, 2012CIE Division 1 entrusted TC 1–74 to investigate the possibility to develop a smooth curve version of the D illuminants. This article investigates the possibility to create such smoothed curves with minimal colorimetric error. Six different smoothing algorithms were investigated; the best method, using a locally weighted regression and smoothing ...

Distributed estimation of smooth graph power spectral density
2017 IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing (GlobalSIP), 2017Stochastic modeling of modern datasets entails the need for accurate descriptions of random phenomena on graphs. In this respect, wide sense stationary (WSS) graph processes have been defined and studied. Fundamental to precise modeling of these processes is the knowledge of the power spectral density (PSD).

A power control game with smooth reduction of SINR objectives
2009 47th Annual Allerton Conference on Communication, Control, and Computing (Allerton), 2009When rate expectations of users in a wireless network cannot all be satisfied, one choice is to discard some users from the system, in a mechanism called admission control. However, in a data network, users have a certain tolerance to occasional rate outages.

A permutation test for randomness with power against smooth variation
Statistics and Computing, 2001A permutation test for the white noise hypothesis is described, offering power against a general class of smooth alternatives. Simulation results show that it performs well, as compared with similar tests available in the literature, in terms of power.

Power approximations to and power comparison of smooth goodness-of-fit tests
Scandinavian journal of statistics, 1994Summary: Global power approximations are presented for smooth goodness-of-fit tests of a simple hypothesis, including e.g. Neyman's tests. The resulting approximation is in terms of a linear combination of non- central chi-squares. A computationally easier further approximation is based on a single non-central chi-square distribution.
