Wireless Information and Power Transfer in Cooperative Communications with Power Splitting
2015 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), 2014In this paper, we consider a cooperative communication system, where the relay node is capable of simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) by splitting the signal from the source node into two power streams for energy harvesting and information relaying, and study the optimal design to maximize the cooperative capacity for both ...

Power and the Splitting (Spaltung) of Language
New Literary History, 1983I SHALL begin with Louis Marin's formulation of the question we must put to our contemporary practice of literary criticism the moment we abrogate to it any power of scientific generalization. Marin poses the question, What could the relation be between literary theory and history if by theory one understood a general and exhaustive explanation of the ...

Control optimization for a power-split hybrid vehicle
2006 American Control Conference, 2006Toyota hybrid system (THS) is used in the current best-selling hybrid vehicle on the market - the Toyota Prius. This hybrid system contains a power split planetary gear system which combines the benefits of series and parallel hybrid vehicles. This paper first develops a dynamic model to investigate the control strategy of the THS power train.

On the Design of Power Splitting Relays With Interference Alignment
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2018In this paper, we study simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) in relay interference channels (ICs), where energy-constrained relays harvest energy from sources’ radio-frequency signals and use the harvested energy to forward the information to destinations.

Optimal power split ratio for autobalanced photodetection
Applied Optics, 2014The noise suppression of the autobalanced photoreceiver devised by Hobbs [Proc. SPIE1376, 216 (1990)] had been determined to depend on the photocurrent ratio of reference beam to signal beam under the condition of constant signal beam photocurrent, and the best noise cancellation was suggested at a ratio close to 2.

Power Split Hybrid Configurations for Human-Powered Vehicles
Volume 1: Active Control of Aerospace Structure; Motion Control; Aerospace Control; Assistive Robotic Systems; Bio-Inspired Systems; Biomedical/Bioengineering Applications; Building Energy Systems; Condition Based Monitoring; Control Design for Drilling Automation; Control of Ground Vehicles, Manipulators, Mechatronic Systems; Controls for Manufacturing; Distributed Control; Dynamic Modeling for Vehicle Systems; Dynamics and Control of Mobile and Locomotion Robots; Electrochemical Energy Systems, 2014This paper presents systematic analysis and design of power split hybrid configurations using a single planetary gearset and two electric machines for human-powered vehicles. In our design methodology, the cyclist is treated as an integrated part of the powertrain, and the cyclist’s power output is augmented by the battery power, instead of being ...

An Optical Power Splitter With Variable Power Splitting Ratio
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2011An optical power splitter based on two parallel and identical spot-size mode converters is proposed. The mode converters are used to couple light directly from a lensed single-mode fiber, and lights in the mode converters are further separated with respective connecting s-bend waveguides.

Power split strategy for hybrid power system with capacitive energy buffer
International Journal of Modelling, Identification and Control, 2008Propulsion systems can be hybridised by providing additional energy sources and energy conversion devices. In a Hybrid Power System (HPS), an appropriate power split strategy is important to distribute the requested power such that overall energy consumption is minimised.

UAV-Assisted Cooperative Communications With Power-Splitting Information and Power Transfer
IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking, 2019In this paper, we focus on a unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted cooperative communication system with simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT), where the UAV serves as a mobile relay and is powered by radio signal from the source via power-splitting mechanism.
