Arcing Faults in Power Systems
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1941IT has for many years been recognized that voltage surges of considerable magnitude could be produced under certain system conditions by switching operations or by arcing faults. Such voltage surges have been studied in some detail in the past, and various theories have been developed to explain their occurrence and to predict their magnitude.

Overvoltages During Power-System Faults
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1939OVERVOLTAGES may be produced by lightning, switching surges, faults, both solid and arcing, and the overspeeding of machines due to loss of load. The effect of circuit and machine characteristics on the duration and magnitude of these overvoltages has received considerable attention.1–10 Furthermore, field tests have been made in order to determine the

Power system faults to ground: Part II: Fault resistance
Electrical Engineering, 1937AN ALLOWANCE for fault resistance in fault current computations is desirable in certain types of problems. The present paper gives the results of a study made to determine reasonable values of fault resistance to use in computing line-to-ground fault currents, particularly in inductive co-ordination studies.

Fault diagnosis of power systems
Proceedings of the IEEE, 1992Knowledge-based fault diagnosis systems are classified by the method of inference utilized in the knowledge-based systems for fault diagnosis of power systems. The characteristics of each class and corresponding issues as well as the state-of-the-art techniques for improving their performance are presented. Additional topics covered are user interfaces,

Fault-Tolerant Electrical Power System
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1987<div class="htmlview paragraph">An electrical system that will meet the requirements of a 1990s two-engine fighter is being developed in the Fault-Tolerant Electrical Power System (FTEPS) program, sponsored by the AFWAL Aero Propulsion Laboratory. FTEPS will demonstrate the generation and distribution of fault-tolerant, reliable, electrical power

Fault Location in H.V. Power Systems
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1980Abstract The available criteria for distance-to-fault measurement are summarized. Methods using the electrical quantities of the short-circuit loop are discussed in detail. Influencing factors and suitable compensation methods are outlined. The advantage of applied digital techniques is demonstrated. A descriptionis given of a digital operating fault

Model-Based Fault Detection in Power Systems
2006 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2006In this paper, we propose an on-line monitoring scheme to detect lost lines and bus load changes on an embedded power system. The proposed monitoring scheme does not rely on classical estimation schemes used in power systems; instead, it monitors, a carefully selected state dependant signal, using an on-line observer.
