Power System Convertor Harmonics
International Journal of Electrical Engineering & Education, 1982A brief outline of convertor harmonic theory is given. The paper also describes the non-linearity which generates the harmonics in large convertors. A summary is given of the recent work carried out by the author and colleagues on the calculation of harmonics in non-ideal convertors with both ac and dc impedance represented.

Harmonic Model and Propagation in Power System: A Review
IECON 2019 - 45th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2019Recent rapid interest in renewable energy generation, especially high penetration of grid-connected renewable energy system, is imposing new challenges to the harmonic model and propagation in power system. In practice, there is a potential risk of harmonic interaction resonance and harmonic propagation. It is of great importance to identify which kind

Power and Harmonics in Nonsinusoidal Systems
2001Rectification used to be a much simpler topic. A textbook could cover the topic simply by discussing the various circuits, such as the peak-detection and inductor-input rectifiers, the phase-controlled bridge, polyphase transformer connections, and perhaps multiplier circuits.

Harmonics in Power Systems — Their Causes
2001Harmonics in power systems have been known since the adoption of alternating current as a means for electric energy transmission. They have, however, been magnified nowadays with the increased use of non-linear devices. A nonlinear device produces non-sinusoidal current when supplied with a sinusoidal voltage1, and vice versa [3]. This chapter provides

Power system harmonics. Part 1: Harmonic sources
Power Engineering Journal, 1994Harmonics have been present in power systems since the very early stages of AC system development. The first part in this series of tutorials deals with harmonics from nonlinear power converters. Future parts will cover measurements, calculation, harmonic problems and harmonic reduction.

Mitigation of Power System Harmonics
2001This chapter is devoted to the reduction or suppression of power system harmonics. Particular attention on how to attain this in converters, capacitor banks, transformers and rotating machines is given.
