Impact of compressed air energy storage system into diesel power plant with wind power penetration

open access: yes, 2019
The wind energy plays an important role in power system because of its renewable, clean and free energy. However, the penetration of wind power (WP) into the power grid system (PGS) requires an efficient energy storage systems (ESS).

ANN application for on-line power system security assessment

open access: yes, 2006
The paper presents the preliminary results of an on-going research activity concerning the application of ANN (Artificial Neural Network) for on-line identification of potential harmful states in power systems (contingency screening).

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Crystal Growth Engineering for Dendrite‐Free Zinc Metal Plating

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This research employed the rare‐earth ion dysprosium (Dy) to modulate aqueous zinc (Zn) metal plating. Integrated multiscale experiments and computational modeling unveiled the preferential adsorption of Dy on specific crystal facets, which activated screw dislocation‐driven Zn growth.

Closure of “applying stochastic optimal power flow to power systems with large amounts of wind power and detailed stability limits”

open access: yes, 2013
We thank the authors of the discussion in [1] for raising the issue of cascading events and correlated blackouts. Our method in [2] was designed as a stochastic version of the security-constrained optimal power flow (SCOPF), in which the system should be

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Application of pattern search method to power system valve-point economic load dispatch

open access: yes, 2007
Direct search (DS) methods are evolutionary algorithms used to solve constrained optimization problems. DS methods do not require any information about the gradient of the objective function at hand, while searching for an optimum solution.

Importance Sampling of Injected Powers for Electric Power System Security Analysis

open access: yes, 2011
Power system security analysis is often strongly tied with contingency analysis. To improve Monte Carlo simulation, many different contingency selection techniques have been proposed in the literature.
