Stability and Control of Power Systems using Vector Lyapunov Functions and Sum-of-Squares Methods

open access: yes, 2015
Recently sum-of-squares (SOS) based methods have been used for the stability analysis and control synthesis of polynomial dynamical systems. This analysis framework was also extended to non-polynomial dynamical systems, including power systems, using an ...

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Interval analysis of the small‐signal stability of grid‐connected voltage‐source converter system considering multiparameter uncertainty

open access: yesIET Energy Systems Integration
Grid‐connected voltage source converters (VSCs) have been broadly applied in modern power system. However, instability issues may be triggered by the integration of grid‐connected VSCs, jeopardising the operation of the power grid. Conventional stability

Synchronization and Transient Stability in Power Networks and Non-Uniform Kuramoto Oscillators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Motivated by recent interest for multi-agent systems and smart power grid architectures, we discuss the synchronization problem for the network-reduced model of a power system with non-trivial transfer conductances.

High-stability, high-voltage power supplies for use with multi-reflection time-of-flight mass spectrographs

open access: yes, 2019
Achieving the highest possible mass resolving power in a multi-reflection time-of-flight mass spectrometer requires very high-stability power supplies.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Koopman model predictive control based load modulation for primary frequency regulation

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution
Conventional power systems function under the assumption that loads are uncontrollable, and that the generation control is the primary means of preserving system voltage, frequency, and stability.
