Fault Detection Method Using ANN for Power Transmission Line

2020 10th IEEE International Conference on Control System, Computing and Engineering (ICCSCE), 2020
Electric power transmission line is an important medium to supply the electric power continuously. However, the exposed environment of transmission line leads to the presence of faults. Therefore, this paper presented a method to overcome the problem in order to improve the quality of power system.

Incremental Power Improves Relay Selectivity to Transmission Line Faults

Journal of The Institution of Engineers (India): Series B, 2018
A research work published in 2014 reported a novel relaying principle for protection of transmission lines using signum function of instantaneous power flows at the two ends of the line. Subsequently, a detailed study of this relaying principle to evaluate its selectivity (sensitivity to detect all internal faults and stability on external faults and ...

Neural network approach to power transmission line fault classification

Proceedings of ICICS, 1997 International Conference on Information, Communications and Signal Processing. Theme: Trends in Information Systems Engineering and Wireless Multimedia Communications (Cat. No.97TH8237), 2002
This paper presents a new solution to fault classification of high voltage transmission lines and shows its effectiveness in digital simulation on a realistic 500 kV power system. The scheme is based on backpropagation and Kohonen neural networks and a comparison between them is made.

Statistical algorithms for fault location on power transmission lines

2005 IEEE Russia Power Tech, 2005
This paper summarizes the application of statistical algorithms for fault location on power transmission lines. The proposed fault location algorithms utilize statistical information about the undefined parameters such as equivalent impedances of the system at the unmonitored end of the transmission line, or those containing random errors.

Fault diagnosis through history reconstruction: An application to power transmission networks

Expert Systems with Applications, 1997
Abstract This paper presents short , a knowledge-based system for fault diagnosis in power transmission networks. Differently from previous approaches to this very complex diagnostic problem, short includes a knowledge representation formalism, named plot, capable of taking into account temporal aspects of component behavior, and solves the ...

Fault Location in a Nonuniform DC Power Transmission Line

Power Technology and Engineering, 2015
Existing methods and devices for locating faults in dc lines are analyzed. A fault location algorithm is proposed for a nonuniform dc line based on the spectral method. This algorithm can also be successfully employed to determine a short circuit in a uniform line as in the special case of a nonuniform dc line.
