Calculation of power on a transmission line

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1967
Power flow at a position on a transmission line can be evaluated as the difference in power in incident and reflected waves if 1) these positions are restricted to locations where the impedance is pure resistance, or 2) the line is distortionless, with no restrictions on location.

Power line carrier emissions from transmission lines

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1992
Extensive ground-based and air-based measurements of the three-dimensional power line carrier (PLC) field radiating from various transmission limes and transformer stations were performed. The measurements were conducted in two frequency ranges: below 200 kHz and above 470 kHz.

An Experimental Power-Lines Model for Digital ASICs Based on Transmission Lines

IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems, 2012
In this paper, we present a transmission-line-based model developed to accurately describe the power and ground-line interconnections of modern digital ASICs. The proposed model employs transmission lines as the core component to properly describe both the capacitive and inductive behavior of the metal lines.

Power transmission line magnetic fields: a survey on 120 kV overhead power transmission lines in Malaysia

2004 IEEE Region 10 Conference TENCON 2004., 2004
The concern on electromagnetic fields (EMF) which may has detrimental effects on human health has heightened public awareness towards the overhead power transmission lines. Frequency of the electrical power lines is typically in the range of 50/60 Hz and yet is classified as extremely low frequency (ELF).

Lightning attachment to power transmission lines

2012 International Conference on Lightning Protection (ICLP), 2012
The effect of lightning channel inclination on the attachment of lightning flashes to UHV transmission lines is investigated using a lightning strike model that takes into account the competing connecting leaders issued from different conductors. The results show that the probability of screening failures increases with increasing inclination of the ...

Electromagnetic Power Extraction of Transmission Lines

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
The main idea of this project is to feed small loads along the lines of the TBE - Brazilian Energy Transmission with retreat directly from power lines without any physical contact. This paper presents the system for extracting small powers of the transmission line through electromagnetic effects.

Power Transmission Lines Monitoring System

2018 International Conference on Industrial Engineering, Applications and Manufacturing (ICIEAM), 2018
One of the most urgent problems of power engineering is power systems reliability. Power transmission lines are one of the most widespread elements of power systems. The most frequent cause of technological disturbances on the overhead and cable power transmission lines is insulation breakdown and flashover.

Modelling of power transmission line components

2020
The aim of this chapter is to present and discuss models of power transmission line components for the calculation of lightning overvoltages on transmission lines due to direct lightning strikes. The models presented in this chapter are based on lumped- and distributed-circuit theory.
