Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...

Droplet Collection Efficiency Regularity of NACA0012 Airfoil Based on the Eulerian Method

open access: yesAerospace, 2023
Obtaining droplet collection efficiency (DCE) is vital for icing numerical simulations. A droplet impact model based on the Eulerian two-phase flow model was established in this work to analyze the influence of different incoming flow parameters on DCE ...

Effects of POD control on a DFIG wind turbine structural system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
This paper investigates the effects power oscillation damping (POD) controller could have on a wind turbine structural system. Most of the published work in this area has been done using relatively simple aerodynamic and structural models of a wind ...

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.

Predictive control of wind turbines by considering wind speed forecasting techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A wind turbine system is operated such that the points of wind rotor curve and electrical generator curve coincide. In order to obtain maximum power output of a wind turbine generator system, it is necessary to drive the wind turbine at an optimal rotor ...

Integrated Optimal Design of a Passive Wind Turbine System: An Experimental Validation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This work presents design and experimentation of a full passive wind turbine system without active electronic part(power and control). The efficiency of such device can be obtained only if the system design parameters are mutually adapted through an ...

Smart and Sustainable Sizing: Investigating the Sensing Behavior of Glass Fabrics Coated With Waterborne Polyurethane/Graphene Dispersions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Waterborne polyurethane/graphene formulations are developed as piezoresistive coatings on glass fabric to enable flexible strain sensing. The graphene‐enabled conductive network provides a stable electromechanical response under cyclic compression. The coating demonstrates reliable pressure‐dependent resistance changes, highlighting its potential for ...

The effect of misalignment on the performance of tilting pad thrust bearing with TEHD coupling model and turbulence model

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2023
A thermoelastohydrodynamic (TEHD) coupling model is developed to study the static performance of a heavy-duty tilting pad thrust bearing (TPTB) under the effect of axis misalignment.
