Short‐Term Variability of Jupiter's Satellite Footprints as Spotted by JWST
Abstract We present the main Alfvén wing (MAW) spots of Io and Europa as observed by the Near‐Infrared Spectrograph onboard the James Webb Space Telescope. These auroral footprint features have been measured previously, but only in emission. Here, the derived ionospheric H3+ ${\mathrm{H}}_{3}^{+}$ emission, temperature and column density are reported ...

Manipulation of Energy Flow with X-Type Vortex
In this study, a new method for manipulating energy flow in a 3D vector field is proposed. In this method, an azimuthally-polarized beam with a noncanonical vortex, the X-type vortex, is focused in a high-numerical aperture system.

A Comprehensive Method of Estimating Electric Fields from Vector Magnetic Field and Doppler Measurements [PDF]
Photospheric electric fields, estimated from sequences of vector magnetic field and Doppler measurements, can be used to estimate the flux of magnetic energy (the Poynting flux) into the corona and as time-dependent boundary conditions for dynamic models

Does the Poynting vector always represent electromagnetic power flow? [PDF]
Poynting vector as electromagnetic power flow has prevailed over one hundred years in the community. However in this paper, it is shown from Maxwell equations that the Poynting vector may not represent the electromagnetic power flow for a plane wave in a

Abrupt Disappearance of Plasmaspheric Hiss Inside the Magnetic Dip
Abstract Plasmaspheric hiss plays an important role in radiation belt electron dynamics, and its excitation and propagation have long attracted attention. During a substorm, Van Allen Probe B observed the disappearance of plasmaspheric hiss at the magnetic dip, which was driven by the injection of energetic protons.

Energy and momentum flux in a high-numerical-aperture beam using the extended Nijboer-Zernike diffraction formalism [PDF]
We describe the energy and momentum flux in the case of an aberrated optical imaging system with a high numerical aperture (NA). The approach is based on the extended Nijboer-Zernike diffraction theory, that, in its high-NA version, yields an accurate ...

This review traces the evolution of wireless power transfer (WPT) for implantable medical devices, spanning electromagnetic, magnetoelectric, acoustic, and magneto‐dynamic systems. Quantitative comparisons of power, distance, and device scale highlight trade‐offs across modalities, while emerging hybrid mechanisms reveal strategies to overcome ...

Azimuthal distinguishability of entangled photons generated in spontaneous parametric down-conversion [PDF]
We experimentally demonstrate that paired photons generated in different sections of a down-conversion cone, when some of the interacting waves show Poynting vector walk-off, carry different spatial correlations, and therefore a different degree of ...

Inspired by the regulation mechanism of window blinds, this study designs an electromagnetic wave‐absorbing metamaterial. By introducing the magneto‐electric coupling concept and integrating it with an artificial intelligence‐based data‐driven collaborative optimization strategy, the material optimizes impedance matching performance and enhances loss ...

Negative phase velocity of electromagnetic waves and the cosmological constant
Examining the propagation of electromagnetic plane waves with the wavevector directed in opposition to the time-averaged Poynting vector in cosmological spacetime with piecewise uniform metric, we show that such negative-phase-velocity (NPV) propagation ...
