Eco-efficient concrete using industrial wastes: a review [PDF]
Concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials in the world. However, the production of Portland cement as the essential constituent of concrete requires a considerable energy level and also releases a significant amount of chemical ...

Accelerated and natural carbonation of concrete with high volumes of fly ash : chemical, mineralogical and microstructural effects [PDF]
Today, a rather poor carbonation resistance is being reported for high-volume fly ash (HVFA) binder systems. This conclusion is usually drawn from accelerated carbonation experiments conducted at CO2 levels that highly exceed the natural atmospheric CO2 ...

Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) remains the most common binder used in construction and accounts for nearly 7%‐8% of the world’s CO2 emissions due to calcination of limestone and high energy use during clinker production. Reducing OPC content using SCMs is one of the major strategies to achieve sustainable construction.

Transformation of a Silicate Material for Carbon Negative Magnesia‐Based Cement via Electrochemistry
The transformation of a magnesium trisilicate material via water electrolysis into precursor phases necessary for magnesium‐based M‐S‐H cement is explored. The dissolution of the material mediated electrochemically is monitored, and the analysis of the resulting phases indicate their suitability as effective precursors for M‐S‐H cement.
