Investigation on the incidence of Plum pox virus in fruit nurseries of the Czech Republic

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2016
Nine different visual evaluations of Plum pox virus (PPV) presence were carried out in four nurseries during 2012-2015. Results of visual evaluation were verified by ELISA. The presence of PPV was confirmed by ELISA in all the trees showing PPV symptoms.

Controlling Photochromism of Donor‐Acceptor Stenhouse Adducts on Micro‐Dot Arrays Beyond Human‐Eyes Resolution for Dynamic Light Encryption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a micro‐dot array strategy for dynamic light encryption, utilizing DASA‐based photochromism with resolution beyond human‐eye capacity. By precisely controlling isomerization kinetics, the method reveals multi‐layered encrypted information under specific light irradiation, enhancing information security and anti‐counterfeiting ...

Principal Component Analysis studies of turbulence in optically thick gas

open access: yes, 2015
In this work we investigate the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) sensitivity to the velocity power spectrum in high opacity regimes of the interstellar medium (ISM). For our analysis we use synthetic Position-Position-Velocity (PPV) cubes of fractional

Prognostic Value of Psoas Major Muscle Volume in Assessing Sarcopenia in Elderly Patients With Rectal Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study investigates the prognostic utility of a novel volumetric indicator—psoas volume index (PVI)—for assessing sarcopenia in elderly rectal cancer patients. Sarcopenia classified by our proposed PVI cut‐off values was associated with poor nutritional and inflammatory status, and patients with low PVI showed significantly worse long‐term outcomes.

Prune cv. Jojo resistance to different strains of Plum pox virus

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2005
Trees of prune (Prunus domestica L.), cv. Jojo, were inoculated by chip budding with three different strains of PPV isolated from European plum in the Czech Republic. These isolates included Plum pox virus M strain (PPV-M), Plum pox virus D strain (PPV-D)

IN-SYNC. V. Stellar kinematics and dynamics in the Orion A Molecular Cloud

open access: yes, 2017
The kinematics and dynamics of young stellar populations enable us to test theories of star formation. With this aim, we continue our analysis of the SDSS-III/APOGEE IN-SYNC survey, a high resolution near infrared spectroscopic survey of young clusters ...

A Machine Learning Model for Predicting Posthepatectomy Liver Failure After Hepatectomy With Extrahepatic Bile Duct Resection for Perihilar Cholangiocarcinoma: With and Without Indocyanine Green

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Using machine learning‐based decision tree models, patients with perihilar cholangiocarcinoma undergoing major hepatectomy with extrahepatic bile duct resection were stratified according to the risk of posthepatectomy liver failure. Separate models were developed with and without indocyanine green data, enabling clinically interpretable preoperative ...

Estimated costs of plum pox virus and management of sharka, the disease it causes

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea
The disease “sharka”, caused by Potyvirus plumpoxi (plum pox virus), is the most harmful viral disease affecting stone fruits. The virus spreads over long distances through illegal and insufficiently controlled exchange of infected propagative plant ...

Diagnostic Accuracy of Size‐Based Preoperative CT Assessment for Predicting Lymph Node Metastasis in Colon Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Preoperative CT based on lymph node size shows moderate accuracy for detecting nodal metastasis in colon cancer. In this meta‐analysis of 29 studies (5,634 patients), pooled sensitivity and specificity were 0.69 and 0.66. Size‐based CT alone has limited value for clinical decision‐making.
