On Peak versus Average Interference Power Constraints for Protecting Primary Users in Cognitive Radio Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper considers spectrum sharing for wireless communication between a cognitive radio (CR) link and a primary radio (PR) link. It is assumed that the CR protects the PR transmission by applying the so-called interference-temperature constraint ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Speech portrayal of a PR officer as a means of artistic expression (based on the material of Christopher Buckley's novels)

open access: yesВестник Самарского университета: История, педагогика, филология, 2022
A lot of research is devoted to both the language of advertising and politics and a character`s image in the works of fiction, respectively. However, some issues related to the specificity of PR officers' work regarding public relations as a separate ...

Judgement of conceptual identity in monkeys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Baboons (Papio anubis) were tested on categorization tasks at two different conceptual levels. The monkeys showed their ability (1) to judge as identical or different the objects belonging to two categories, on a perceptual basis, and (2) to perform a ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Pr$_2$Ir$_2$O$_7$: when Luttinger semimetal meets Melko-Hertog-Gingras spin ice state

open access: yes, 2017
We study the band structure topology and engineering from the interplay between local moments and itinerant electrons in the context of pyrochlore iridates. For the metallic iridate Pr$_2$Ir$_2$O$_7$, the Ir $5d$ conduction electrons interact with the Pr

The production of radiation tolerant vacuum phototriodes and their HV filters for the compact muon solenoid endcap electromagnetic calorimeter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Particle detectors which will operate at the Large Hadron Collider face unprecedented challenges in both the number of active detector elements and in operating without maintenance in a high radiation environment for many years.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

XANES study of rare-earth valency in LRu4P12 (L = Ce and Pr)

open access: yes, 2000
Valency of Ce and Pr in LRu4P12 (L = Ce and Pr) was studied by L2,3-edge x-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy. The Ce-L3 XANES spectrum suggests that Ce is mainly trivalent, but the 4f state strongly hybridizes with ligand orbitals ...

Alasdair MacIntyre as a Marxist and as a critic of Marxism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This essay reconstructs Alasdair MacIntyre's engagement with Marxism with a view both to illuminating the co-ordinates of his mature thought and to outlining a partial critique of that thought.
