Phantom cosmology as a simple model with dynamical complexity

open access: yes, 2004
We study the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker model with phantom fields modelled in terms of scalar fields. We apply the Ziglin theory of integrability and find that the flat model is nonintegrable.

Analytic Light-Curves of Gamma-Ray Burst Afterglows: Homogeneous versus Wind External Media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Assuming an adiabatic evolution of a Gamma-Ray Burst (GRB) remnant interacting with an external medium, we calculate the injection, cooling, and absorption break frequencies, and the afterglow flux for plausible orderings of the break and observing ...

Three-phase coexistence with sequence partitioning in symmetric random block copolymers

open access: yes, 2011
We inquire about the possible coexistence of macroscopic and microstructured phases in random Q-block copolymers built of incompatible monomer types A and B with equal average concentrations.

Serum and Urine Copper – Contamination and Stability

open access: yesActa Medica Bulgarica, 2015
Pre-analytical factors of variation need to be carefully considered and investigated in efforts to harmonize all aspects of the total testing process. This study aimed to evaluate contamination and stability in copper (Cu) analysis of serum and urine by ...

The Effect of Pre-Analytical Conditions on Blood Metabolomics in Epidemiological Studies

open access: yesMetabolites, 2019
Serum and plasma are commonly used in metabolomic-epidemiology studies. Their metabolome is susceptible to differences in pre-analytical conditions and the impact of this is unclear.

Sub-TeV proton beam generation by ultra-intense laser irradiation of foil-and-gas target [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A two-phase proton acceleration scheme using an ultra-intense laser pulse irradiating a proton foil with a tenuous heavier-ion plasma behind it is presented. The foil electrons are compressed and pushed out as a thin dense layer by the radiation pressure
