Testing of Full Scale Pre-Stressed Concrete Beams

IABSE Reports, 2013

This paper deals with testing of pre-stressed I-beams, the behaviour of the beams under loading, strengthening methods and their function.

In the near history in Finland large commercial buildings have been built using pre-stressed pre-fabricated beams. The cost efficiency has led to designing very slender beams with higher

Dynamic coefficient of an elastically supported, pre-stressed beam

Ingenieur-Archiv, 1978
An analysis is made of the problem of vibrations of a beam with an axial force resting on eltstic foundation, when the beam is uniform and of finite length and is subjected to an impulsive load. The solution is presented within the framework of a beam theory which includes the effects of shear deformation and rotary inertia.

ACOUSTOELASTIC EFFECTS ON THE NATURAL FREQUENCIES OF PRE-STRESSED CONCRETE BEAMS

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2011
Pre‐stressed concrete is used to increase the load capacity in many civil engineering structures. There is a need for non‐destructive methods to estimate the potential loss of pre‐stress in these structures. In this study we investigate the acoustoelastic effect on the natural resonance frequencies of a pre‐stressed concrete beam.

New Pedestal for Pre-Tensioned Pre-Stressed Beam Construction

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
Taking the advantages of groove pedestal and pier pedestal, a new type of pre-tensioned pedestal is constructed. The new pedestal makes full use of the deck (also the bottom formwork of the beam) to bear the tensile force so as to reduce the quantity of the pedestal construction.

Effective Algorithm for Calculating Spatial Deformations of Pre-stressed Concrete Beams

2010
An effective algorithm is presented in this paper to solve boundary value problems describing the deformations of pre-stressed concrete beams The solution presented in this paper aims to deliver a speedup of several magnitudes compared to existing algorithms in order to be able to handle more complex problems inaccessible so far Parallelization ...

Numerical Modelling of Concrete Beams Reinforced with Pre-Stressed CFRP

Key Engineering Materials, 2007
In this paper, a numerical simulation is presented on the behavior of concrete beams, reinforced with pre-stressed CFRP. The numerical results are compared to experimental results. Non-linear material behaviour is considered, namely: the inelastic compressive concrete behaviour, the elasto-plastic behaviour of steel reinforced bars, the bond-slip ...

Static Behaviour of Pre-stressed Polymer Composite Sandwich Beams

2006
The paper describes an experimental and numerical study of the effect of pre-stress on the progressive collapse of polymer composite sandwich panels subjected to a central line load. The beams were made from carbon pre-preg laid up in a quasi-isotropic form for the skins and Rohacell 51WF foam for the core.

Behaviour of laminated glass beams reinforced with pre‐stressed cables

Steel Construction, 2014
AbstractStructural glass corresponds to an innovative material with extraordinary aesthetical and architectonic potential that has undergone significant technological advances in recent years, yielding it stronger and safer. For this reason, the use of structural glass has increased considerably in the last decade and is now an unavoidable presence in ...

Vibration analysis of a pre-stressed laminated composite curved beam

Steel and Composite Structures, 2015
In this study, natural frequency analysis of a large deflected cantilever laminated composite beam fixed at both ends, which forms the case of a pre-stressed curved beam, is investigated. The laminated beam is considered to have symmetric and asymmetric lay-ups and the effective flexural modulus of the beam is used in the analysis.

Modelling of Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened With Pre-Stressed CFRP

2008
In this work a numerical simulation on the behaviour of reinforced concrete beams, strengthened with pre-stressed CFRP at the lateral faces of the beams is presented. The numerical results are compared to experimental results obtained from a testing campaign made in 2004 by Franca [1].
