Study of glulam beams pre-stressed with pultruded GRP

Computers and Structures, 2005
Improvement of the load carrying capacity of glulam beams by the addition of reinforcement is now common practice. Recently it has been demonstrated that pre-stressing of beams using pultruded glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) tendons provides an available alternative due to the compatibility of the two materials and the low losses of pre-stress ...

Experimental Verification of Pre-Stressed Beams

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
The paper is a follow-up to previous presentations regarding the experience with ultra-high-performance (UHPC) concrete in the Czech Republic. It will present specific production and testing of pre-stressed beams in the company Skanska a.s. In 2013, the manufacturing facility of the company Skanska a.s.

Assessment of Pre‐Stress Losses in Instrumented Pre‐Stressed Concrete Beams Using Stochastic Analysis

Strain, 2011
Abstract:  In this study, stochastic analyses of pre‐stress losses in two pre‐stressed concrete beams are carried out, and the results of the analyses are compared with those obtained from the laboratory experimental investigations. The deterministic models given in ACI 209 (with modelling error) are used for predicting the pre‐stress losses.

ACOUSTIC EMISSION MONITORING OF PRE-STRESSED CONCRETE BEAMS DURING ACCELERATED CORROSION OF PRE-STRESSING TENDONS

Proceedings of the 14th International Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring, 2023
Acoustic sensors attached to pre-stressed/post-tensioned bridges are promising tools for monitoring the progression of corrosion damage in pre-stressing/post-tensioning tendons. In this study, acoustic emission signals from a pre-stressed beam containing three pre-stressed tendons that were exposed to accelerated corrosion conditions were studied.

Analyzing pre-stressed steel arch beams

Challenge Journal of Structural Mechanics, 2018
Techniques are being developed day-by-day to make it possible to pass through larger openings using smaller beam-column sections. Parallel to this trend, there is another necessity to produce not only smaller but also more economical and architecturally attractive beams.

An Innovative Concept for Pre-stressed Glass Beams

IABSE Reports, 2015

At Technische Universität Dresden structural glass researchers are developing an innovative concept for pre-stressing glass beams. These beams are post-tensioned by unbonded cables which are anchoraged at the beam ends. Four different cable layouts are chosen to investigate on an optimized global load bearing behavior and depend on the ...

Nonlinear shear strength of pre-stressed concrete beams

Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 2012
The shear strength is an important factor in the design of prestressed concrete beams. Therefore, researchers have utilized various methods to determine the shear strength of these elements for the design purposes. To evaluate some of the proposed theoretical methods, numerous models of posttensioned beams with or without vertical prestressing are ...

Testing of Full Scale Pre-Stressed Concrete Beams

IABSE Reports, 2013

This paper deals with testing of pre-stressed I-beams, the behaviour of the beams under loading, strengthening methods and their function.

In the near history in Finland large commercial buildings have been built using pre-stressed pre-fabricated beams. The cost efficiency has led to designing very slender beams with higher
