Investigation of the Pre-stress Loss in the Dynamical Behaviour of Concrete Beams

2008
The work addresses the effect of pre-stress on the dynamic behaviour of concrete structures. At this purpose peculiar attention is paid to the eigenfrequencies and the relevant modal shapes of beams that share the same geometrical and mechanical parameters but are acted upon by different levels of pre-stress force.

Evaluation of an experimental CFRP pre-stressed beam and slab road bridge

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2005
The paper reports the evaluation of the first application of CFRP pre-stressed girders for a road bridge in Belgium. In this experiment, one girder in each approach span of a three span beam and slab road bridge is pre-tensioned by carbon fibre polymer wires and designed to have equivalent strength as the other conventionally pre-tensioned girders. The

A numerical survey on the behaviour of beams pre-stressed with FRP cables

Construction and Building Materials, 1998
Abstract A numerical investigation on the behaviour of beams pre-stressed with GFRP cables is performed. A brief overview on the mechanical and chemical properties of GFRP, AFRP and CFRP tendons allows us to suggest which type of tendon is more suitable for each pre-stressing technique, to evaluate the cost increase with respect to steel strands and ...

Analytical study of long term behavior of pre-stressed concrete beam strengthened with a pre-stressed FRP bonded plate

Brazilian Journal of Technology
In the field of civil engineering, employing composite materials to reinforce reinforced concrete structures has become a highly common practice. However, this technology is not frequently used in pre-stressed concrete constructions. This study is dedicated to show the importance of reinforcing pre-stressed concrete beams with a plate made of pre ...

Axial load identification of a slender pre-stressed concrete beam

2015
The paper brings out the axial load identification of a slender pre-stressed concrete beam by applying a concentrated load and measuring the flexural displacements in different points of the beam span under investigation, by using optical and dial gauge sensors system.
