Research on the control strategy of grid connection between shore power supply and ship power grid

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2022
In order to meet the requirements of smooth connection and gradual load transfer between power supply and ship’s power grid. A control strategy based on an AC/DC/AC converter topology is studied in this paper.

TDC Chip and Readout Driver Developments for COMPASS and LHC-Experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
A new TDC-chip is under development for the COMPASS experiment at CERN. The ASIC, which exploits the 0.6 micrometer CMOS sea-of-gate technology, will allow high resolution time measurements with digitization of 75 ps, and an unprecedented degree of ...

Self-Synchronization in Duty-cycled Internet of Things (IoT) Applications

open access: yes, 2017
In recent years, the networks of low-power devices have gained popularity. Typically these devices are wireless and interact to form large networks such as the Machine to Machine (M2M) networks, Internet of Things (IoT), Wearable Computing, and Wireless ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

A discussion about a start-up procedure of a doubly-fed induction generator system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The present work proposes a start-up procedure for a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) driven by a wind turbine. In the DFIG topology the stator is connected direct to the grid while the rotor is connected to a back-to-back converter.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Start-Up and Fault-Ride-Through Strategy for Offshore Wind Power via DRU-HVDC Transmission System

open access: yesEnergies
The diode-rectifier unit (DRU)-based high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system offers an economical solution for offshore wind power transmission. However, this approach requires offshore wind farms to establish a strong grid voltage.

Synchronization Patterns in Networks of Kuramoto Oscillators: A Geometric Approach for Analysis and Control

open access: yes, 2017
Synchronization is crucial for the correct functionality of many natural and man-made complex systems. In this work we characterize the formation of synchronization patterns in networks of Kuramoto oscillators.

Desynchronization: Synthesis of asynchronous circuits from synchronous specifications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Asynchronous implementation techniques, which measure logic delays at run time and activate registers accordingly, are inherently more robust than their synchronous counterparts, which estimate worst-case delays at design time, and constrain the clock ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...
