A new pre-test probability score for diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis in patients before surgery [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cardiology, 2022
Venous thromboembolism is a serious perioperative complication. We developed a new pre-test probability score for predicting deep vein thrombosis (DVT) before surgery.Whole leg ultrasonography was performed on 973 inpatients and outpatients with suspected DVT based on a preoperative D-dimer cut-off value of ≥ 1 μg/ml.

Five uneasy pieces about pre-test probability [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Internal Medicine, 2002
In this issue, Noguchi et al. report on their study of Japanese medical students' abilities to estimate pre-test probabilities, test characteristics, and post-test probabilities for written cases representing patients with differing likelihoods of coronary heart disease, compared with reference standards from the published literature.1 They found among

Impact of a decreasing pre-test probability on the performance of diagnostic tests for coronary artery disease [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal - Cardiovascular Imaging, 2019
Abstract Aims To provide a pooled estimation of contemporary pre-test probabilities (PTPs) of significant coronary artery disease (CAD) across clinical patient categories, re-evaluate the utility of the application of diagnostic techniques according to such estimates, and propose a comprehensive ...

Clinical-radiological predictive model in differential diagnosis of small (≤ 20 mm) solitary pulmonary nodules

open access: yesBMC Pulmonary Medicine, 2021
Background There is a lack of clinical-radiological predictive models for the small (≤ 20 mm) solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs). We aim to establish a clinical-radiological predictive model for differentiating malignant and benign small SPNs.

Monogenic diabetes in New Zealand - An audit based revision of the monogenic diabetes genetic testing pathway in New Zealand

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2023
AimsTo evaluate (a) the diagnostic yield of genetic testing for monogenic diabetes when using single gene and gene panel-based testing approaches in the New Zealand (NZ) population, (b) whether the MODY (Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young) pre-test ...
