Transferrin and Prealbumin Identify Esophageal Cancer Patients with Malnutrition and Poor Prognosis in Patients with Normal Albuminemia: A Cohort Study

Nutrition and Cancer, 2022
In this study, we aimed to analyze whether serum prealbumin and transferrin have a higher sensitivity than albumin for detecting malnutrition and predicting survival in esophageal cancer patients.

Preoperative C‐reactive protein to prealbumin ratio is independently associated with prognosis in patients with resectable colorectal cancer

Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2022
Increasing attention has been drawn the prognostic value of inflammatory indices for colorectal cancer (CRC). However, the prognostic value of the preoperative C‐reactive protein to prealbumin ratio (CPAR) in CRC remains unclear.

Impact of prealbumin on mortality and hospital readmission in patients with acute heart failure

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Internal Medicine, 2017
Background: Prealbumin is a maker of nutritional status and inflammation of potential prognostic value in acute heart failure (HF). The aim of this study is to evaluate if low prealbumin levels on admission predict mortality and readmissions in patients ...

Prealbumin in nutrition evaluation

Nutrition, 1996
We compressed 16 test-pattern classes of albumin (ALB), cholesterol (CHOL), and total protein (TPR) in 545 chemistry profiles to 4 classes by converting decision values to a number code to separate malnourished (1 or 2) from nonmalnourished (NM) (0) patients, using as cutoff values for nonmalnourished (0), mild (1), and moderate (2): ALB 35, 27 g/L ...

Prealbumin proteins in serum

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1971
Abstract The paper presents a modification of the standard Ornstein and Davis method. Normal and pathological sera were analysed by disc electrophoresis on 11% polyacrylamide. This concentration is very convenient for prealbumin separation. The present procedure gives better fractionation of prealbumin than the methods previously reported.

Prognostic Value of Prealbumin in Liver Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Nutrition and Cancer, 2020
Accumulated studies have reported the prognostic significance of prealbumin in liver cancer, but the results were not conclusive. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between pretreatment serum prealbumin and clinical outcome of liver ...

Serum Levels of Prealbumin and Albumin for Preoperative Risk Stratification.

Nutrition in clinical practice, 2019
Preoperative risk stratification has long been developed as a strategy to predict postoperative outcomes and potentially alter or optimize comorbidities and modifiable risk.

The association between serum albumin/prealbumin level and disease severity in non-CF bronchiectasis.

Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, 2020
Non-cystic fibrosis (non-CF) bronchiectasis is a chronic pulmonary disease that can lead to malnutrition. Serum prealbumin and albumin level are related to inflammatory and nutritional status.

The formation of lipid prealbumin

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1963
Abstract The work of Schultze was followed up by examining the effect of adding acid stains, sodium oleate and lipase cofactors. The modified α 1 -lipoprotein which appears on immunoelectropherograms as an anodic prolongation of its normal precipitating line and called by Uriel ϱ-lipoprotein, was deduced to be a complex of normal Xj-lipoprotein and ...

Association between preoperative prealbumin level and postoperative mortality and morbidity after hepatic resection for hepatocellular carcinoma: A multicenter study from a HBV-endemic area.

American Journal of Surgery, 2020
BACKGROUND Prealbumin is a more sensitive serum biomarker in reflecting liver function and nutritional status than albumin, because of its shorter half-life and its characteristics that could hardly be affected by supplemental venous infusion of albumin ...
