Therapeutic Potential of GeGen Decoction for the Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 13, 15 July 2025.
The efficacy of GGD in PCOS has been evaluated by in vivo and in vitro model. Our findings demonstrated that GGD effectively alleviated PCOS symptoms in rat models by improving estrous cycles, restoring ovarian morphology, regulating hormone levels, and ameliorating glucose and lipid metabolism disorders.

Immunohistochemical localization of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in the pig ovary.

open access: yesFolia Histochemica et Cytobiologica, 2007
The aim of the study was to determine the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen protein (PCNA) in the pig ovary. The localization of PCNA was demonstrated in paraffin sections of pig ovarian tissue using primary mouse monoclonal anti-PCNA ...

Anti-Mullerian hormone attenuates the effects of FSH on follicle development in the mouse ovary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Although ovarian follicle growth is under the influence of many growth factors and hormones of which FSH remains one of the most prominent regulators.

Ultrastructural and morphometric characterization of buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) ovarian preantral follicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The main objective of the present study was to characterize buffalo preantral ovarian follicles. Parts of ovarian cortex, collected from postpubertal buffalo females that were having estrous cycles at regular intervals, were selected under ...

Interaction between ascorbic acid and follicle-stimulating hormone maintains follicular viability after long-term in vitro culture of caprine preantral follicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This study evaluates the effects of ascorbic acid and its interaction with follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) on the morphology, activation, and in vitro growth of caprine preantral follicles.

Annexin II mRNA expression in bovine oocytes during follicular development

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2006
We investigated the expression of calcium-dependent phospholipid binding protein annexin-II (Ann-II) messenger RNA (mRNA) during preantral follicle development and in oocytes from antral follicles of different diameters (< 3 mm, 5 to 8 mm and > 8 mm ...

Control of primordial follicle recruitment by anti-Mullerian hormone in the mouse ovary [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The dimeric glycoprotein anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) is a member of the transforming growth factor-beta superfamily of growth and differentiation factors.

Serine threonine kinase receptor associated protein regulates early follicle development in the mouse ovary. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The molecular mechanisms involved in regulating the development of small, gonadotrophin-independent follicles are poorly understood; however, many studies have highlighted an essential role for TGFB ligands.

Gonadotropin ratio affects the in vitro growth of rhesus ovarian preantral follicles

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Medicine, 2016
In vitro follicle growth (IVFG) strategy is critical in the fertility preservation of cancer survivors; however, its optimal protocol needs to be developed using primate models since the availability of human samples is limited.

A novel three-dimensional culture system allows prolonged culture of functional human granulosa cells and mimics the ovarian environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The development of techniques allowing the growth of primordial follicles to mature follicles in vitro has much potential for both reproductive medicine and developmental research.
