Formation of High‐Molecular Hydrocarbons by CO‐Based Fischer‐Tropsch Synthesis Using Na‐Promoted Fe Catalysts

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 17, Issue 7, April 4, 2025.
Na‐promoted Fe catalysts are investigated to produce high‐molecular hydrocarbons using the CO‐based Fischer–Tropsch synthesis. Highest hydrocarbon formation rates occur in the inlet part of the catalyst due to the substantial presence of Fe carbides. The Fe carbides react with the formed water to produce FT‐inactive Fe3O4 along the reactor.

Analysis of Excited Species Formation across the Flame of Various Ammonia‐Hydrogen Fired Combustor Geometries

open access: yesEnergy Technology, Volume 13, Issue 4, April 2025.
Ammonia's combustion still presents challenges, including the formation of NOx emissions. Therefore, knowing the onset of radicals across the flame can help in mitigating unwanted pollutants while maximizing flame control. This document addresses the change of position of various excited radicals, method that through relatively simple systems can ...

Aspects of Ammonia as Green Fuel for Propulsion Systems of Inland Water Vessels

open access: yesEnergy Technology, Volume 13, Issue 2, February 2025.
Within the CAMPFIRE project, an ammonia‐powered propulsion concept is being developed for use in inland water vessels. The core of the system is an ammonia‐fueled high‐speed engine that drives a generator. A cracker splits some of the ammonia into hydrogen and nitrogen to ensure better ignition and efficient combustion.
