The Short-Term Temporal Spectrum of Precipitable Water Vapor

Science, 1981
Short-term power spectra of the fluctuations in the precipitable water vapor measured with a dual-channel microwave radiometer are presented. The spectra, taken over 34-hour sampling periods, encompass periodicities from 1 day to about 10 minutes. The fluctuation power is associated with the average precipitable water vapor for the sampling period. The

Hybrid precipitable water vapor fusion model in China

Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics, 2020
Abstract High-precision precipitable water vapor (PWV) can be obtained using the global navigation satellite system (GNSS). However, the spatial resolution of the GNSS-derived PWV is insufficient, particularly for areas without sufficient GNSS stations. Although other techniques, such as radiosonde sounding, can also be used to obtain PWV, generating

Temporal variability of precipitable water vapor in the North Atlantic

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2000
Radiometric measurements of precipitable water vapor were made at Porto Santo Island, Madeira, Portugal, over a one-year period. Temporal variability of the precipitable water vapor is estimated using structure functions. The power law index of the structure functions is compared to values predicted by a statistical model of water vapor fluctuations.

Neural network for the satellite retrieval of precipitable water vapor over land

2010 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2010
A multilayer neural network has been developed to retrieve IPWV over land from brightness temperatures measured by the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer - Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) on board the Aqua satellite. Our study was optimized over two areas in Northern and Central Italy.

Precipitable Water Vapor at Mount-Laguna Observatory

Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1987
Measurements of precipitable water vapor at Mount Laguna Observatory are presented and discussed. A total of 243 measurements were made from March 1983 through December 1985. The method, using a filter-wheel radiometer in conjunction with spectrographic calibration, is described. The mean value of precipitable water vapor on photometric days was 5.2 mm.

Estimation of Water Vapor Profiles from Total Precipitable Water.

1983
Abstract : A method is described for converting a value of total precipitable water into an approximate mixing ratio profile. Mixing ratios are provided at the six radiosonde mandatory reporting levels. The method uses an approximation based on the empirical orthogonal functions (EOF's) of mixing ratio profiles.

Accuracy Assessment of MODIS Derived Precipitable Water Vapor

2018 IEEE Asia-Pacific Conference on Antennas and Propagation (APCAP), 2018
In this paper, precipitable water vapor (PWV) values calculated from MODIS satellite data are compared to the PWV values calculated from GPS data. Analysis of one-year data from 9 stations, shows that the MODIS derived PWV values correlate well with the GPS PWV values with the correlation coefcients of 0.85, 0.94 and 0.85 for tropical, sub-tropical and

GNSS-derived Precipitable Water Vapor for Climate Monitoring

2023
Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is now an established observing system for atmospheric water vapour with high spatiotemporal resolution. Water vapour is under-sampled in the current climate-observing systems and obtaining and exploiting more high-quality humidity observations is essential for climate monitoring.

Monitoring Atmospheric Moisture Using GPS Precipitable Water Vapor

2017
This article is aimed at indicating correlation between climatic changes and atmospheric moisture and precipitation using GPS precipitable water vapor values (PWV) and meteorological data in Khon Kaen, Thailand. PWV, average temperature, and precipitation data from 2001 to 2014 were analyzed to determine the changes over the time period. The estimation

Concentrations of Tritium in Water Vapor and Precipitation on Mt. Hakkoda

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2000
A large reprocessing plant of spent nuclear fuel is now under construction in Rokkasho-village, Aomori Pref. Japan. We carried out the survey of tritium concentration in water vapor and precipitation on the top of Mt. Hakkoda, to grasp the behavior of tritium in the environment of Aomori Pref.
