Changes in plant species richness distribution in Tibetan alpine grasslands under different precipitation scenarios [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Species richness is the core of biodiversity-ecosystem functioning (BEF) research. Nevertheless, it is difficult to accurately predict changes in plant species richness under different climate scenarios, especially in alpine biomes.

Precipitation extremes under climate change [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The response of precipitation extremes to climate change is considered using results from theory, modeling, and observations, with a focus on the physical factors that control the response.

Hydrologic evaluation of satellite precipitation products over a mid-size basin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Since the past three decades a great deal of effort is devoted to development of satellite-based precipitation retrieval algorithms. More recently, several satellite-based precipitation products have emerged that provide uninterrupted precipitation time ...

Summertime evaluation of REFAME over the Unites States for near real-time high resolution precipitation estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Precipitation is the key input for hydrometeorological modeling and applications. In many regions of the world, including populated areas, ground-based measurement of precipitation (whether from radar or rain gauge) is either sparse in time and space or ...

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

The sensitivity of oceanic precipitation to sea surface temperature

open access: yes, 2019
Our study forms the oceanic counterpart to numerous observational studies over land concerning the sensitivity of extreme precipitation to a change in air temperature.

A cellular system to study responses to a collision between the transcription complex and a protein‐bound nick in the DNA template

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present the cellular transcription‐coupled Flp‐nick system allowing the introduction of a Top1‐mimicking cleavage complex (Flpcc) at a Flp recognition target site within a controllable LacZ gene. LacZ transcription leads to the collision of RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) with Flpcc, and this causes RNAPII stalling, ubiquitination, and degradation.

Precipitation Protocols [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The purpose of this activity is to determine the amount of moisture input to the local environment by measuring rain and snowfall and to measure the pH of precipitation.

Superposition of DC voltage and submicrosecond impulses for energization of electrostatic precipitators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper discusses the development of an impulsive microelectrostatic precipitation technology, which uses superposition of submicrosecond high-field pulses and dc electric field.
