Spatial-temporal characteristics and changes of atmospheric water vapor in the Three River Headwaters Region

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2019
The spatial-temporal characteristics of precipitable water vapor and water-vapor flux as well as precipitation conversion efficiency in the Three River Headwaters Region were discussed through correlation analysis, trend analysis, accumulative anomaly and ...

Precipitation Extremes and Their Modulation by Convective Organization in RCEMIP

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems
We examine the influence of convective organization on extreme tropical precipitation events using model simulation data from the Radiative‐Convective Equilibrium Model Intercomparison Project (RCEMIP).

Evaluating Satellite Products for Precipitation Estimation in Mountain Regions: A Case Study for Nepal

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2013
Precipitation in mountain regions is often highly variable and poorly observed, limiting abilities to manage water resource challenges. Here, we evaluate remote sensing and ground station-based gridded precipitation products over Nepal against weather ...

Warmer and wetter climate induced by the continual increase in atmospheric temperature and precipitable water vapor over the arid and semi–arid regions of Northwest China

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology: Regional Studies, 2022
Study region: arid and semi–arid regions of Northwest China Study focus: Precipitable water vapor (PW) is the medium for energy and water exchange, and supplies moisture for precipitation. Based on meteorological data and PW data from observation and six

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Control of Stability and Relative Humidity in the Radiative‐Convective Equilibrium Model Intercomparison Project

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems
The Radiative‐Convective Equilibrium Model Intercomparison Project (RCEMIP) exhibits a large spread in the simulated climate across models, including in profiles of buoyancy and relative humidity.

Analysis of single-Alter-shielded and unshielded measurements of mixed and solid precipitation from WMO-SPICE [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2017
Although precipitation has been measured for many centuries, precipitation measurements are still beset with significant inaccuracies. Solid precipitation is particularly difficult to measure accurately, and wintertime precipitation measurement biases

Catalyzing urea hydrolysis using two-step microbial-induced carbonate precipitation for copper immobilization: Perspective of pH regulation

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
Microbial induced carbonate precipitation (MICP) has recently applied to immobilize heavy metals toward preventing their threats to public health and sustainable development of surrounding environments.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Linking tree water use efficiency with calcium and precipitation

open access: yesTree Physiology, 2022
AbstractWater use efficiency (WUE) is a key physiological trait in studying plant carbon and water relations. However, the determinants of WUE across a large geographical scale are not always clear, limiting our capacity to predict WUE in response to future global climate change.
