Maximizing precipitation hardening effect enables ultrahigh strength in a coarse-grained Mg-13Gd forging alloy

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys
In this work, a new strategy for achieving ultrahigh strength in the coarse-grained Mg-Gd binary alloy via utilizing recrystallization texture hardening and maximizing precipitation strengthening has been reported.

A multidisciplinary approach to study precipitation kinetics and hardening in an Al-4Cu (wt. %) alloy

open access: yes, 2018
A multidisciplinary approach is presented to analyse the precipitation process in a model Al-Cu alloy. Although this topic has been extensively studied in the past, most of the investigations are focussed either on transmission electron microscopy or on ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Influence of Extrusion Temperature on the Aging Behavior and Mechanical Properties of an AA6060 Aluminum Alloy

open access: yesMetals, 2018
Processing of AA6060 aluminum alloys for semi-products usually includes hot extrusion with subsequent artificial aging for several hours. Processing below the recrystallization temperature allows for an increased strength at a significantly reduced ...

Significant hardness enhancement in an Al–Cu–Mg alloy with high Cu:Mg ratio by microalloying with Si and Ge [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The evolution of hardness in an Al-Cu-Mg based alloy with high Cu:Mg ratio (= 2, at. %) microalloyed with Si and Ge was studied during artificial ageing treatment performed at 190 °C. The results were compared to those obtained in a similar alloy with no

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Aluminum-alloyed lightweight stainless steels strengthened by B2-(Ni,Fe)Al precipitates

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2021
The age hardenability of Al-alloyed lightweight stainless steels with the base chemical composition Fe–10.5Cr–3Al (wt.%) and Ni concentrations in the range 3–15 wt.% was studied.

Decomposition process in a FeAuPd alloy nanostructured by severe plastic deformation

open access: yes, 2008
The decomposition process mechanisms have been investigated in a Fe50Au25Pd25 (at.%) alloy processed by severe plastic deformation. Phases were characterized by X-ray diffraction and microstructures were observed using transmission electron microscopy ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.
