Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Strengthening Mechanisms in CoCrFeNiX0.4 (Al, Nb, Ta) High Entropy Alloys Fabricated by Powder Plasma Arc Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
In high entropy alloys (HEAs), the addition of large-size atoms results in lattice distortion and further leads to solid solution strengthening or precipitation strengthening.

Microfluidic electro‐viscoelastic manipulation of extracellular vesicles

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The electro‐viscoelastic manipulation as a potential method for separation of particles based on size. The particles introduced as a sheath flow migrate to the channel center under the influence of simultaneously applied electric field and pressure driven flow.

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Influence of Vanadium on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Medium-Carbon Steels for Wheels

open access: yesMetals, 2018
Steels used for high-speed train wheels require a combination of high strength, toughness, and wear resistance. In 0.54% C-0.9% Si wheel steel, the addition of 0.075 or 0.12 wt % V can refine grains and increase the ferrite content and toughness ...

Unveiling the Affect of Annealing Temperature on the Phase Transformations of Inconel 718 Superalloy Manufactured by Additive Manufacturing [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Materials Science and Engineering, 2023
Phase transformations and the evolution of hardness during elevated-temperature annealing of Inconel 718 superalloy manufactured by the laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) were investigated. The microstructural evolution, elemental analysis, phase formation,

Assessing the predictive capabilities of precipitation strengthening models for deformation twinning in Mg alloys using phase-field simulations

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys, 2023
Precipitation strengthening is a key strategy for improving the overall mechanical properties of Mg alloys. In Mg-Al alloys, basal precipitates are known to strengthen against twinning, resulting in an increase in the critical resolved shear stress (CRSS)

Laser Metal Deposited Ti4822 Hollow Pipe: Experimental and Computational Modelling Study

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser metal deposition (LMD) of a crack‐free built Ti4822 alloys is challenging. This article reports outstanding characteristics of a hollow pipe that is built with LMD technology when a predicted, nontransformation substrate temperature of 800 °C is used.

Investigating the Effects of Build Height on Mechanical Behavior of Large‐Scale Laser Wire Directed Energy Deposited Nickel Titanium Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser wire directed energy deposition process was leveraged to fabricate large scale NiTi alloy wall. Evaluation of build‐height‐dependent tribo‐mechanical properties revealed significant differences in location specific sample characteristics. The middle region achieved optimal performance (superior wear resistance, balanced strength‐ductility ...

Heterogeneous Deformation Behavior of Cu-Ni-Si Alloy by Micro-Size Compression Testing

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
The aim of this study is to investigate a characteristic deformation behavior of a precipitation strengthening-type Cu-Ni-Si alloy (Cu-2.4Ni-0.51Si-9.3Zn-0.15Sn-0.13Mg) by microcompression specimens. Three micropillars with a square cross-section of 20 ×
