Precipitin-Tests in Plasmodium Lophurae Malaria

The Journal of Immunology, 1949
Summary and Conclusions Specific precipitin- and collodion-particle-agglutination tests are described with antigens and sera from ducks infected with Plasmodium lophurae. A method for production of a relatively stable antigen from the plasma of ducks heavily infected with P. lophurae is outlined.

A rapid quantitative agar gel precipitin test

Journal of Biological Standardization, 1983
A novel quantitative agar gel precipitin test for antibodies to infectious bursal disease was compared with a more conventional procedure. The new method could be carried out more rapidly than conventional methods, making it suitable for testing large numbers of serum samples.

A micro-procedure for quantitative precipitin tests

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1978
A new method for the quantitative analysis of antigens and antibodies has been based on (1) ultrafiltration of the antigen-antibody precipitates through silver membranes of 0.2 micrometer pore size in a specially designed multisample apparatus, and (2) spectrophotometric determination at 210 nm of the amount of proteins in the antigen-antibody ...

Precipitin-Testing and Its Three-Dimensional Expression

The Journal of Immunology, 1947
Summary The results of a series of quantitative turbidimetric precipitin-tests when plotted according to a three-dimensional scheme define the extent of the precipitin-reaction under study and describe the quantity of reaction in terms of the amount of precipitate formed over the range of visible antigen-antibody combination. The results

The candida precipitin test in an immunosuppressed population

Cancer, 1979
Ninety-one immunosuppressed, high-risk patients suspected of having invasive candidiasis were tested during their septic episode for the presence of candida precipitin (CP) antibody using the counterimmunoelectrophoresis (CIE) method. In 12 patients, systemic candidiasis was confirmed but only 6 of these (50%) had candida precipitins.

The Precipitin Test in Systemic Candidiasis

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1976
A selected population of 115 high-risk patients was studied for the correlation of precipitating Candida antibodies with systemic candidiasis. Systemic infection was demonstrated histologically in 69 patients. Positive precipitin reactions were found in 72 patients, 65 of which were true-positive and seven of which were false-positive.

A Precipitin Test for Typhoid Fever

Nature, 1943
TREATMENT of typhoid fever with the serum from convalescents of this disease is a well-recognized therapeutic procedure. The good results obtained are believed to be due to passive immunization, as in other forms of serum therapy. From the serological analysis of a large number of convalescent typhoid sera it was, however, observed that their antibody ...
