Sensing in Precision Horticulture

2021
Information technology is playing an increasingly important role in today’s agricultural production systems, regardless of operation size, commodity or management approach. Precision horticulture is an information-based management strategy that relies on collecting site-specific or plant-specific data.

A precision angular sensing system

Proceedings of 1995 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002
A precision angular sensing system based on scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) is presented. The proposed system consists of three STM tips for the tracking of atoms of a reference lattice. This method will offer a real-time precision angular measurement system of pitch, roll and yaw with nano-radian resolution.

Adversarial Precision Sensing with Healthcare Applications

2020 IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM), 2020
For many real-world tasks obtaining a complete feature set is prohibitively expensive, especially in healthcare. Specifically, physicians must constantly balance the trade-off between predictive performance and cost for which features to observe. In this paper we tackle this problem by proposing precision sensing, formulating it as a time-dependent ...

Precise manipulation with endpoint sensing

IBM Journal of Research and Development, 1985
This paper describes recent work on manipulation strategies that rely on “coarse-fine” robot hardware and direct sensing of part-workpiece relationships. The experiments reported use an extremely precise, high-bandwidth planar “wrist” and an industrial vision system to perform accurate alignment of small parts.
